Powertone dynasonic

This may sound crazy, but I was thinking of making my COB powertone a dynasonic. I have the parts to do it, and it looks like all Id have to do is change the bottom hoop and hook up the frame. I dont see much differance between the two,,,,,,,,What do you think???

Dyna-Sonics don't have snare beds and powertones do. It won't really work.

Re: Powertone dynasonic

Thats fine, I just bought a COB dynasonic shell on e-bay for 50 bucks. The dyna I have is a steel one, so I will just transfer the parts over. I have pics now of the Island import drum shells, but dont know how to post pics on this site. If you saw them could you tell if they were xp shells? Maybe I could e-mail you pics? Thanx!

I think the lugs are probably the same size, but you're going to have a heck of a time getting those 10 lug dyna hoops (especially the bottom with the snare gates) on an 8 lug drum.

Daninflag, don't mix the parts from the cheap Island with the real USA stuff.

Here's the best way to think of it. Ask your wife how embarrassed she'd feel if you mixed the good silver with stainless flatware when entertaining important guests. Or, think of the feeling you have when you drive your AC Cobra replica and everyone asks if it's the real thing, and you say "Uh...sure looks good, huh?"

Tommy, I noticed that the only thing usa on that set was the snare frame, and thats it. Bottom hoop shouldnt matter but if you think I should get the real Mcoy I will, thanx again, daninflag.

Re: Powertone dynasonic

How do they sound? The same as a dyna? Because wood dynas 6.5x14 are so rare and expensive, Ive considered taking a pearl wood snare drum and using the dynasonic snare frame. If I could afford the 1000 bucks I would, but the pearls are a cheaper way to go. Always wondered if that would work till I get rich!!!!
