Big R Snare Help Needed
Hey guys!
I'm totally new to Rogers drum. So pardon me if my questions seem silly.
This week, my band changed to a new studio for our band practice and the studio has a Big R snare drum in there and it sounds great.
Am wondering if I should ask if the owner is willing to sell to me but I am not sure about it's value, or if it's worth getting or not.
A friend recommended me to this forum so I hope you guys can help.
Here are two photos:

Re: Big R Snare Help Needed
Value will mostly depend on what the bottom rim and snare look like. Looks like a regular snare strap, so assume there is no Dynasonic snare bridge down there. Picture of the bottom rim will provide info,
Is it a regular bottom rim. or something with extended snare protection gates? Assume 10 lugs shell. Check out Dynasonic listings on ebay if you are not sure what to look for.
All else aside, if you like the drum, it is worth trying to buy it - at the right price of course. They are on ebay quite often if he won't part with it.

Re: Big R Snare Help Needed
Welcome! It's hard to tell from the pictures but if the drum has the snare frame and is in good condition it should be worth about 3-350.00. They are great drums once you learn how to tune them and use the snare frame. Not hard at all you just have to have the right information and we have it here on the ROF

Re: Big R Snare Help Needed
Hello,
Thank for the information.
It's a 10-lug snare but however, the snare frame is missing. Alas.
I think I shall go check it out on eBay and start to hunt for a better condish one. If this beat-up one without the snare frame sounds good me, imagine the better ones.
This is exciting! Whoo-hoo!

Re: Big R Snare Help Needed
Teenage-H, remember to buy one with the true Dynasonic snare frame. Many have been removed and tossed over the years. The Dyna-Sonic had little or no snare beds (dependng n the year, whether wood or COB) so it's important to have the frame to make it sound right.
When you find the Dyna of your dreams, be sure to check out how to tune the drum. Tips are on this forum.
