Project Superten shell ...... What can we do with this.?

Heres the deal, Ive got a really nice SuperTen COS shell. It is completely devoid of hardware, has excellent chrome, no dents, dings, or other issues. It is missing the ROGERS script logo, (i do have one). The Big R 1980 no serial number badge is perfect and the grommet is unmollested.
I am taking suggestions, we can restore, pimp it up, tube lug it, die cast it...... I am completely open to experimentation here. The only rule is no drilling. And well, maybe cost. But definitely no drilling will be involved.

I would put all stock parts back on it, except for a pair of diecast hoops, or maybe a set of those maple-ply snare hoops.

And some high-tech-type Puresound snare wires...

Dan, what is the benefit of the diecast or maple hoops?

The Superten shell is a loud and responsive shell. Changing the tone with the maple or diecast hoops might be an interesting endeavor. No other reason than that, really...

And that........ "interesting".... is the whole reason for this. The shell is clean enough, without hole distortions to accomodate vintage style tube lugs, which is the direction I am leaning in at the moment. The Throwoff will probably be Rogers, as I do not see any real improvement going towards any of the hot shot aftermarkets available. The Butt, deffinitely will be Rogers, as I have no intention of changing anything about the shell itself. Wood hoops, ... now thats something I had not considered, but I am intrigued by the idea. I will definitely look into that.

I think, if theres any interest..... when this thing is done, maybe it can go on a road trip.

Too cool, Ploughman. "Road trip." Is this the drum you've been talking about sending on a tour to members?

This SuperTen would be a brand new endeavor. I dont want to do anything to change the drum itself, since, eventually, it would go back to Stock. It was a beautiful shell at a rather unbelievable price. This is purely a chance to experiement with other hardware, hoops, the "dressing" if you will. Dans suggestion of wood hoops has my eye right now.

I would still like to bring to fruition Bruces intention of sending a Dynasonic on tour.

I think that would be tough as nails.
I've always liked the wood hoops and the tube lugs.
It would make a nice custom drum. And since no hardcore mods would occur, you could return it to stock anytime. COOL!
Can't wait to see it! emoticon

I ordered a 2" vintage style tube lug, and it doesnt fit. There are no lugs available from anyone with a 1 15/16 center measurement. So, anyone have a suggestion? Possibly other vintage? Im not really comfortable in using single post lugs on this type of shell.

Im open to suggestions.
