Lugs and Rims:
Lug nuts= little threaded insets inside the lugs, B&B or Beavertail, that the “T” rods screw into.
This information is good for all Rogers drums late 50s through 80s. The chrome on tall hoops/lugs was probably the best in the B&B era.
The Beavertail lugs, that replaced the B&B lugs in 1963/64, were heavy cast with springs and felts holding the lug nuts (lug nuts are the little threaded insert for the tee rods). The lugs started getting lighter after Dayton, but then got very light and lost the felts and used lighter springs after 1969. They stayed pretty much the same until late 1974 when the clip lug nuts (little cir-clips that hold the lug nuts in the lugs, no more springs/felts) showed up prior to Memriloc being introduced in 1975.
All of these Beavertail lugs can be interchanged. Many say the chrome on the rims got better after the move to Fullerton, CA

How important is it to have the "proper" rims on my dynasonic, I can get pearl superhoops all day long for a much better price than a used rogers. Thank-you, daninflag

Proper rims on a dynasonic are vital to the continuing good condition of the drum. The top hoop really doesnt matter, its merely asthetic. If you know Rogers rims, you will know theres a ludwig hoop on a Rogers drum. But......... that even gets by the experts. Take a look at Dynasonic number 15301 sometime, its on the cover of the Rogers Book by Rob Cook. First Edition............ thats a ludwig hoop on top. The Rogers Book Second Edition again has the White Marine Pearl Dynasonic number 15301 on the cover.........but it now has a Rogers Top Hoop. Your drum will be playable with any good condition hoop on top.
The bottom hoop is a bit more important. The Dynasonic Snare frame is what makes this drum what it is. Without that, you have ......... another drum with no snare bed thats even more difficult to get a great sound from. I dont care what the mystery "they" people say, the drum is hard to tame with regular snares. The Rogers Dynasonic bottom hoop with its integral guards and removable side plates (earlier version) and the later version from about 1973 on with its modified guard...... these work to protect the Dynasonic Frame from damage during set up especially, and most notably shelf sitting. The bottom hoop saves you head damage, frame damage, and it just belongs.
That said.......... if you cannot get a true Dynasonic fram, there are one or two other manufacturers who made similar bottom hoops. One was Tama. Or .... you can also use a later version Rogers hoop until you get the right era hoop for your drum. The Pearl Superhoop is one of the few hoops manufactured today that closely resembles a Rogers.
