I will see if I can set up links in a different color so they'll be easier to see.

This is a very valuable link as there are many Dyna owners who have trouble setting them up properly.

Thanks CC!

Has anyone had to deal with one of the snare wires coming loose from one side? The guy at a drum shop said to just cut it off - I think I'd rather try to solder it back in place . . .

I have never been able to resolder a wire so it worked right. But if you do let us know how it went.

Cut it off. Make sure you don't leave a sharp edge that will cut head. You'll be sorry if you try to re solder it.

I got as far as taking a good look at the snare. I tend to go with Bruce now - soldering one might cause the other ones next to it to come loose. It will be cut off and filed down to remove any shape edges . . .

Unless you've already cut it off, I would suggest a dab of epoxy on the loose end instead of solder to repair the wires.

Thanks for a very informative site. As for cutting snare wires, I had to do that many years ago. Eventually, I had to replace the snares because almost 1/2 of the original ones were gone. I found a reproduction set of replacement snares and they've been working just fine. Good luck.

The biggest reason snare wires break on Dynas is that the snare tension adjuster is way overtightened. Never use a screw driver, only tighten finger tight. It doesn't take much.
