Correct Reproduction Bass Drum Decal
Which is correct for a Dayton era set:
>> the Rogers logo with black letters on clear film sticking to the head, or
>> the logo where only the black letters stick to the head?
Which looks better?
Should it have "USA" on it? (I've seen replicas both ways)
Who is the best vendor?

Re: Correct Reproduction Bass Drum Decal
Hmmnnn. You answered my question with a question. You're saying that the original factory logo was silkscreened on? And somebody is actually doing this on repros today?
The vendors on the net all make their own claims. Some say the sticker should have letters mounted on a clear background to be original, others say the letters only should adhere to the head with no clear sticker background. And you say it should be silkscreened.
Anybody with an original head care to comment? I'm not at home, or I'd check to see what's on my original XP8, not that it is necessarily done the way it was earlier.

Re: Correct Reproduction Bass Drum Decal
My 20" Holiday Bass drums came with a decal. I'm the original owner. I still have one of the decals. It has no "stick" left to it.
I was thinking about scanning it and printing some on some sort of decal media that will work on my printer but just have not got arround to looking for the media.

Re: Correct Reproduction Bass Drum Decal
And mine is a 67 Headliner. I don't remember what it had.
My XP8 head is definitely silkscreened, or printed in some manner, anyway.
I think for repros, the individual character method would look best.

Rogers'O~does your sticker say USA on it?
Is it black? I'd like one if its a decent, vinyl sticker.
I want one for my kit and one for my jeep......
Tommy~does your XP8 logo say "XP8" on it?
There was one of these on ebay recently. Clear head, can't remember the $$$ though.

Re: Correct Reproduction Bass Drum Decal
TommyK, that fella we were talking about in the PM is dead on. That's where I got my repro. I bought my set in 1966-67 and the "USA" was definitely on there.
Only difference - the original was in fact a decal. But when it was new the film didn't show. After a few years, when air and humidity had worked on it, it became visible. And it looked kinda crappy.
