Poultices

i had an idea a few weeks ago and i wrote it down in my dag journal. ill re print it here.

some background, at rag they introduced these medic bandages. white cloths that when tied to a damaged limb heals the limb. i was reading the lothlorian boards and they mentioned how they were going to implement these rules at their own battles. they went further into the characterization of it by calling the bandages elf medicine. i thought a similar thing could be applied to Taurendor battles or at least Rogin battles. i did not want to go in a "magic direction" so i figured we could call the bandages poultices. a poultice is a bundle of herbs and medicines used as a compress often to soothe injuries or prevent infections. i came up with some variants as well

Poultices:

White: Healing medecine
-single bandage tied to a limb heasl the limb.
- two bandages raises a dead fighter.

Red: Berserker medecine
-Fighter gains torso armour and immunity to the two limb death rule.

Blue: Woad
-numbs the skin to effectivly give fighter full coverage armour.

i based all of these on rule sets weve used before in taurendor. they all worked well enough at the time.

i figure the poultice will be represented by a head band of the correct color. and maybe for some flair we could sew a bit of batting in it to make it look like its got a bunch of herbs in it.

This definitely sounds like fun, and it's workable without being overpowered.

Are you going to try it for Saturday?

Re: Poultices

prolly not. i dont have any made. and i see them as being a reward in an ongoing series of battles. like if one unit wins a predetermined scenario the reward could be 5 healing bandages and 2 woads, for example

Re: Poultices

So these would be really rare then, not something that, say, a designated healer would be allowed to carry a supply of into each scenario?

Re: Poultices

thats another option. if we started having healers in
taurendor we might dole out a few of these with each scenario.

at least the white bandages would be handed out. i think the special ones should be much more rare, to keep them special.

it would be an interesting dynamic if we had designated healers who could heal via poam and via the bandages. the poem takes a while but it can be done over and over. the bandages are much quicker, but are in short supply...hmmm.

Just a thought--what if the poultices were distributed randomly. You could put one red and one blue for every ten white poultices into a box and they are drawn at random. So if you allow a healer to have five, they only have a small chance of drawing a red or blue, and if they do they can only have one.
