Nemo, a Trade?
Nemo, would you be interested in a steel great helm, painted and rust proofed in the colors of your alternate knight character?
id be looking for a fresh shield made much like your tear drop one for a trade.

Re: Nemo, a Trade?
Great timing!
I've been working on my knight persona for tomorrow (though it's mostly been fruitless. The chauces I tried to make from the cut off sleeves of your chain ended up being too short and wouldn't stay up. I might try again tonight now that I might be able to have better looking armor). The breathable chain should be cooler than the leather over leather of my other gear.
I'd be happy to make a shield for you. For a point of reference, mine is, IIRC, 4 feet tall by 2 feet wide. The top is designed to be a perfect semicircle (it's as close as I could get), and I cut off the bottom so that it would be safer and wouldn't get messed up on the ground (making it a little shorter than 4'). It has half of a curved wood core so that the top part won't taco, and the bottom part, which is thick enough not to taco, is supported by a piece of pvc that also serves as a handle. The wood is thick enough that I could screw straps onto it. There are six layers of foam on the front of the shield (two protecting the cutout for the punch handle) that stick out about two inches from the wood core. Then there's another layer around the wood part so that it doesn't stick out. I have very little sewing ability, so all I did for the cover was two straight lines and then duct taped it around the edges. I doubt that I could do anything better at this point.
I'll bring the shield with me tomorrow. What kind of great helm are you able to make. I'd prefer the flat topped kind like I have now.

Re: Nemo, a Trade?
Oh, yeah, are we doing this for the Renn Faire? I won't be able to get it to you any sooner (I'll have to finish it next week, though, because I doubt I'll have foamsmithing time or facilities at Gettysburg).

Re: Nemo, a Trade?
im in no rush, and the helm is one i have owned for a while. it is not a flat topped one unfortunately. its very similar to this one, without the brass.

i would do all the derusting and painting myself. if you would like i could probably have it all done in time for the renn faire campout.

Re: Nemo, a Trade?
Alright, a helm that shape could be even better than a flat topped one. Is this one pointed at the bottom like in the picture?
The Renn faire would be good as it would be the best time to look absolutely awesome. Since there's two days, I'm thinking of using both of my personae, and Ionatan needs to look as good as Nemo. The audience will be like, "Wow, that one guy looks so good, I'm going to join Dagorhir. Sure I'm a cripple and can't fight, but I'm going to devote my life to promoting Dagorhir for the sake of that guy." It'll happen.
I'm not egotistical at all. . .

Re: Nemo, a Trade?
it is pointed but not that much. it has a much shallower slope to it.

Re: Nemo, a Trade?
Actually, can you bring it with you tomorrow? Obviously I'd just be looking without anything to trade yet, but it would be easier to tell what it looks like with the actual item in front of me. In any event, it is almost guaranteed to look better than my duct taped cloth over leather over duct taped leather contraption that I have now.

Re: Nemo, a Trade?
I'll try to get the leather together real fast (accidentally got mixed in with the stuff I was keeping. On the bright side you'll probably get more than before). I'll still just charge you the $3 for the battle.
No, I don't have an AIM screen name. I keep this page up and refresh it whenever I cycle through my tabs, which, depending on how bored I am, can end up being as fast as AIM on my end. I mean, as soon as I saw that you were on I started refreshing like mad and caught it a few seconds after you posted it, I think.
