You mentioned today that you used to wear the great helm over a mail coif. Do you by any chance still have said coif and are you willing to sell it? If not, that's fine. You might still plan on using it. I'm just watching Kingdom of Heaven now and I'm noticing how awesome everyone looks in full mail.

I love Kingdom of Heaven. Back when it first came out I didn't like it that much, but I decided to tivo it last December in anticipation for Assassin's Creed and I fell in love with it. I bought the Directors cut like a week later. I always watch it when I make armor. I watched the first disk on Tuesday when trying to make the chauses and I decided to finish it today (for some reason my normal DVD players won't play it, so I have to use my Xbox, and I left in paused during the intermission for 5 days. The system was ready to overheat. Stupid Microsoft).

Anyway, yeah, coifs are cheap enough. I turned to you first to keep it in Dagorhir, though I have no qualms about just buying it online (considering all of my leather is store bought).

Do you have any specifics for your shield yet? We should have compared the size earlier. I'm thinking you might want a bigger shield since you're, what, a foot or more taller than me. I have an idea that I'll test out for the handle. Don't worry, though, the way I put together the shield means that I can make sure it works before finishing it, and if it doesn't I can change it. Also, I have some tennis racket grip tape left over that I can wrap the handle in rather than leather if you want.

yeah maybe at the renn fair we can do a sizing, id like it no longer then chin to knee. or ill just measure that length tomorrow, and just report it to you. and you can adjust accordingly.

ive got some athletic tape i use for my weapons and shields, that would be best for me. thinner, less bulky.

it looks like ill be able to use the leather you gave me to make a few knife cases, and the shoulder straps for my new armour.

I have the plywood and wood glue for the core now and I'll be getting enough foam to supplement what I already have today. When you send me the measurement, I'll probably just make it in the same proportion as my shield. I'll make it the height you need and then calculate the width you need based off of the size of my shield.

Don't forget that I can't work on it after this week. I need 24 hours to curve the wood (I can do that without the measurements, I'll start tonight) and then I can put the foam on in a day. I won't be able to foamsmith in college.

By the way, is this for your Hospitalier persona? We should have a whole unit of Crusader alter-egoes.

btw. . . still waiting on that measurement. I believe that I could make it 6' tall max and any less than 4' would look comical on you just because of the type of shield it is. Small shields make sense, not small kite shields. I still have to pack for college next week, but I may be able to fit it in.

Yeah, that should work. I wasn't able to start your shield, however I will get it done by the ren faire. Everything got really complicated when my great grandmother died, then it was my birthday and people were coming in for the funeral, then my mom's friend's mother died and she needs to go to the funeral so she can't help me pack, and now my cat has cancer and could die in two weeks. I'm not trying to make excuses or get any sympathy, just telling you what's going on. I may have to come back for a weekend before the ren faire. I want to make my surcoat wider before then anyway, so I'll have to make time for them both. I might be splitting the cost of full riveted chain (chauses and all!) for my birthday, so with the new helmet I'll be freaking awesome.
