help me find black wire
I'm trying to make a black chainmail shirt but so far I haven't been able to find black wire. Stainless steel wire (silver color) is everywhere but I'd really like to make the shirt black. If anyone knows where to get some let me know please.

theres a way to blacken mild steel armour. im not sure of the specifics. but it involves oiling the armour, leaving it out to rust stlightly then derusting and reoiling. you repeat that procedure until the "rust" blacken the rings.
my opinion, go with stainless. and after enough sweat and rain is poored into it it will darken slightly into a dull gray. but youll have not future problems with rust. and rust can be a *****.
if you have your heart set on black though maybe try looking at the ringlord.com. they sell precut rings and i think they come in black.

ok thanks for the info, precut rings are out though way to expensive for me. I think I'm just going to buy some mild steel and let it blacken over time then. Hopefully I'll have it done by the november battle.

mild will be prone to rust if you dont stay on it. id say galvinized. it will darken slightly into a dull gray.
but if your heart is set on black than go for mild and be prepared to spend some time on it, post construction.

apperently rust can be easily gotten rid of by putting the mail in a pillow case with sand and shimmying the **** out of it. I'm going to buy the wire as soon as I get some extra cash, pix will follow shortly after.
