That's awesome. I want to do something like this for Nemo too. I have a lot of stuff, and more stuff in mind, but it isn't nearly as comprehensive as your list.

I have an oilskin tarp. I haven't gotten to use it yet, but I can't wait for the chance. It's a trekking thing, so it only weighs 7 pounds and rolls up smaller than my expensive backpacking tent. Which is saying a lot because it's 10' x 10'.

Do you know how to make tarp shelters? I know a bunch of them that are useful in different situations. It's basically origami with a tarp. If you want I can show you some at the next battle we both attend. I feel like doing something with the tarp anyway. Of course, with the extensive research you have done, I bet you've already found everything I can teach you considering I found the site in about 5 minutes of searching. I do have experience making the shelters, though, even though I haven't been able to sleep in one. I almost convinced the trip leaders on my orientation backpacking trip to use one of mine. For some reason they were sleepng under a tarp (I would have preferred it considering it was 3 people to a backpacking tent for us). One shelter I know can be set up anywhere with three stakes and a trekking pole if you have a tarp. I has plenty of room for three people. We didn't have any extra stakes, though, so they just spread it out between some trees and slept under it and complained.

I can also show off my awesome Roman marching pack too, since I use it to make the shelters. It's not historically accurate to do so, but a Roman marching pack is perfect for making shelters, because you can disassemble it to make supports and such. It's an efficient way to carry stuff and there is nothing just laying around while you're in camp.

i was cuaught with little time to prep for wilderness survival merit badge. as a result one of my three items was a tarp. i used this to make my shelter. it was good enough. though the field we were alloted was an old shot gun range and sloped terribly. i had a migraine the next day and missed my morning classes the day after. so practice and time will tell weather i can use my canvas tarp well.

i mostly plan on jus laying it on the ground and wrapping myself in it. ive done that at aratari campouts with modren tarps and slept comfortably. the grommets are there just in case i need to make a tent or rainfly out if it. i like having the options.

ill need to see but i do forsee having to add a few more lengths of rope. just a feeling.
