Hello
Hello
I'm new to dagorhir and only wish I came a across it sooner. I've been doing much research and am looking forward to getting started. After talking to Froth I feel this would be a nice unit for me. I'm 26 and from North jersey but don't mind the drive at all. I really just wanted to drop by say hello and introduce myself and if anyone could point me in the right direction as to how to join and best way to get started such as garb and weapons I'd highly appreciate it. I've read both the main page rules and the units rules and policies and look forward to hopefully seeing some rogin soon

Re: Hello
I'm fairly certain all you need to join is a waiver (found here ). In fact, I don't believe Taurendor requires waivers for the first battle, but it might be easy just to get it out of the way. Since you're 26, you don't need to get it notarized, so it should be a snap.
After that, all you need to do is show up. Having garb and weapons already would be awesome, but I don't believe it's required. I believe we waive needing garb for the first battle, and there are typically a lot of weapons to borrow. However, having garb and weapons would be great. Early on, a basic T-tunic or even a baggy shirt with sweat pants suffices. Eventually, though, you may want to find more involved garb, either through historical research or a good imagination (both of which have worked for me). For early weapons, I (and many other people I have seen on the National Boards) suggest a basic ~36" sword. They're not hard to make and they're versatile. Since "sword and board" fighting is the most common form of fighting in Dagorhir, for good reason, a medium sized shield would not be a bad idea. Also, another sword as a backup weapon (because everyone's early weapons normally fail) or as an offhand weapon would be a good idea.
Besides all of that, I would say bring a good attitude. We're all there to have fun.

Re: Hello
thanks for the response I definetly want to have garb and weapons already for my first time as that's the fun of it to me as well as the fighting. I found some videos on weapons building but any specific good ones anyone knows of would be appreciated other than that can't wait to show up meet new friends and have a good time
