Poems Written by Tonterias
This was written by:Tonterias
Existenial Angst
Brilliant conversations with your friends, but in reality
empty meaningless chatter.
A game of chess or scrabble to past the time away.
Like a bottle of booze for the restless mind.
To keep away the empty sense of boredom creeping
up from behind.
The cold wind of boredom blows through you,
like a winter gust.
Leaving you with a sense of emptiness.
Seeking distractions, it then becomes
a must.
By yourself you cannot stand to be.
Looking at yourself too closely
in the mirror.
From this you want to be free.
Facing what you really are is what
you dare not contemplate.
In the company of
others, you seek escape.
From a soul searching self examining
state.
Life is a perennial state of desiring,
not to think.
To ponder deeply the meaning of it all.
So go to the bar and have another drink.
Maybe throw some more darts at the wall.
Someday soon in a quiet moment the
gnawing sense of worthlessness will
come.
Then you will squirm or toss and turn.
From this you will try your best to get away
from.

Re: Poems Written by Tonterias
Crystal Ball
Gaze into my depths unlimited.
Tell me what you see.
What you wish for.
Or what you want
to be.
Staring hard you see the images.
You want your fortune to be real.
So you see what you want to see.
Your heart or soul it then becomes
revealed.
The truth is simple for those
who want to know.
You live your future now and make
it come alive.
Just a matter of time, for it will happen.
It shall soon arrive.
What you desire tommorrow is what
you want today.
I am really just a mirror.
Look inside you only
see yourself.
All you are and what you dream.
It's not in the stars or in your hand.
But only in your mind.
So to seek the answer to your future
that's where you should look and find.

Re: Poems Written by Tonterias
The following was actually based on a movie that was based on a story by Edgar Allen Poe.
Red Death
Hiding out in a castle the party goers
gathered, to pass the time away.
Hoping very hard in keeping the red death at bay.
Foolish ones celebrating, merely to keep them-
selves from thinking.
Of what might happen to them.
So they keep on feasting and keep on drinking.
To pass the time away.
Their leader a prince of pleasure, wallowing
in his decadence.
Libertine of no conscience or morals, which
he seems to be against.
The devil he worships and to whom he honors
with his orgies.
But as with everything a time does come.
When there needs to be a change.
The red death has takened it's toll.
The land around seemed within it's hold.
Scarlet red the dead lay dying.
For the reaper in red left them lying.
Within the castle the party goes on.
Stone drunk and living it up in a frenzy.
What's happening outside the walls
no one wants to think upon.
So they laugh and sing the night away,
till the crack of dawn.
But there amidst them all, is an
unkown guest.
Gliding past and through them like a
ghost.
Who the apparition is no one can guess.
But it has not escaped the attention of
the host.
The mood of the party has suddenly
soured.
The laughter and the singing has died
down.
Prince Prospero the host sitting in his
chair.
He seemed very well aware.
Who dares to dress like this and show up
here?
Dampening the party by spreading such
fear?
I will have him siezed and hung for this
he thinks.
So he gets up and goes to meet this un-
invited guest.
To dress up like the reaper in red,
is in terrible jest.
Confronting this apparition he meets it
face to face.
In a bright red burial shroud the apparition
stands before him.
The face of a skull peering at him.
Painted red.
A silent gaze that says it all.
You are dead.
Prince of debauchery standing now in fear.
The stranger in red stands before you.
And now your time draws near.
Like a sinner before the lord on judgement day.
For now it looks as though, this is the time to pay.
The stranger in red raises his hand.
With a quick motion he brings his hand down.
And it's all over, peace and quiet without a sound.
For the wicked prince is no more.
Nothing now but a scarlet corpse waiting to rot.
Victim of a fate which against in vain he fought.
The castle now lies quiet with everyone dead.
Years later the story is told and sometimes read,
of that fateful night and the stranger in red.
How a castle full of revelers came to naught.
To those who know of this, they will tell you this.
Prince or pauper, master or slave, gentleman or
knave, foe or friend.
It matters not for every one is equal in the end.
Rich or poor, man or woman, strong or weak,
short or tall.
It makes no difference for the reaper in red
conquers all.

Beyond The Pale
Living in the shadows beyond the pale.
Not knowing who I am and
wondering what I should be.
Feeling like a fake or a phoney, instead
of being the real me.
The reflection of myself unclear, for
the real face I cannot see.
Living in the shadows beyond the pale.
As a ghost wandering the landscape not
knowing what I want.
Walking the same route, a place I have come
to haunt.
Living in the shadows beyond the pale.
Even in the daylight there is darkness
where I choose to go.
The illumination of certainty is something
I will never seem to know.
Living in the shadows beyond the pale.
Beyond the reach of what is normal life.
Like the flying dutchman sailing the seas
forever.
To sail home into port and rest, it seems
never.

Re: Poems Written by Tonterias
The Aliens Among Us~A Political Parable
Not too long ago in a place near and far depending where you are, there was
a certain nation or a country.
In this particular nation or country there existed a religious and ethnic minority which
in comparison to their neighbors tended to be more well off.
They were very enterprising and industrious which gained them much respect along with
some resentment.
When economic conditions got worse or rough they were often blamed for it and treated
as scapegoats.
On occasions rampaging mobs would trash or burn their shops and businesses as well
as assaulting individual members of this despised group.
Their religion was as such incomprehensible to outsiders who mistaken their clanish-
ness, as a form of conspiratorial secretness.
Rumors abounded that they worsphipped the devil, practiced human sacrifices and
practiced the black arts of sorcery or necromancy.
The reason these people stick to themselves and not associate openly with others
is simply because these sinister creatures have something to hide.
These people do not live among everyone else, but only among their own kind and
keeping only to their own traditions
Therefore it must be because they despise everyone else.
What other reason could such people be so clannish and secretive about their
ways and their religion?
.
Because much of the business in this country was in the hands of this minority they
were not considered too trustworthy.
Many conspiracy theories were spread about in regard to how they were a part of some
global/worldwide movement, controlling the world thru finance or banking.
After all they were the ones who were supposed to have invented practice of moneylending.
That is charging an interest rate on money borrowed, which is something that some regarded
as less than ethical.
Supposedly many of the world's governments were in their debt and as a result they were the
ones behind the scenes pulling the strings, while the ones who were the leaders were
in fact mere puppets.
Some nations in the world had already driven these pariahs out of their lands, and have
forbidden them to return on pain of imprisonment or death.
Others simply allowed them to stay within their midst but living separately apart in
segregated enclaves.
Well it so happened one day that in this particular country the government had
decided on reaching a final solution,in regard to this minority group of pariahs.
The leaders of this government had a conference where they were discussing what
they intended to do about them.
Some had recommended nothing less than a total expulsion of these people from
their midst.
Others even argued for nothing less than a total elimination of these same group by
genocide.
But the more shrewd or clever among them had concluded that both solutions were
far from being the correct one.
Why is that the others asked? What is the best remedy then?
The clever ones then argued their point; "We need such a despised and untrustworthy
people in our midst for good political reasons.
They serve as a good distraction from our shortcomings, which is what we need in order
to keep the masses from looking at us too closely.
What better way to unite our people than to have a scapegoat for blaming our problems
on.
If we got rid of them then what would we have to focus the attention of the people on?
If not for them then we ourselves might become the villians, but with them filling that
role we can better keep the lower classes in line by distracting them from the reality
of their situation.
Our lives of privilege and power will not stand up to close scrutiny if those with a more
objective perception can see us.
We rule by the grace of other's ignorance and not by any inherent virtue.

Re: Poems Written by Tonterias
Dead End World
A roomful of losers and being one with the crowd.
My euphoric arrogance dissipated and no longer proud.
Finding myself with them and feeling the same.
Sitting around in idle chatter and playing the
same old game.
Another lost soul with nowhere else to go.
I wonder if there is anything I really
know.
Nothing else to do and nothing else to be.
Is there something that is missing or is there
something I cannot see?
Why am I here as opposed to somewhere else?
Obviously it's just me and maybe here is where
I belong.
There are times when instead of being
right I wish I was wrong.

Re: Poems Written by Tonterias
A Devil In Disguise
Cupid where art thou? Show yourself that I may shoot you with a
shotgun or a crossbow.
You pass yourself off as an angel,in reality
you are a demon in sheep's clothing.
From me you shall have nothing but my contempt or utter loathing.
Saving your painful and toxic arrows for others, more deserving of misery
than me.
From your rather dubious influence I should do my best to flee.
Son of Venus cherubic looking devil in disguise.
The fallacy of believing that love conquers all, is
but one of many lies.
Being stung by hornets maybe more painful
but in the long run causes less misery.
Foul fiend with your quiver of pain leave me
be.
From the passions of the heart I wish I was free.
All too human I have become, with a yearning I wish I
didn't have.
Without which I would find it easier to joke, and to
laugh.
Oh great god of love answer me this.
Have all your victims made the world a better place?
How many have of them have suffered, lives of hell
and utter waste?
What the fools out there don't seem to know,is what
it means to be carefree.
Without Cupid around it is much easier to be.
Easier to be carefree.
