Other than Sylvanian Families, I collect Ty Beanie Babies, although not as much as I used to. I have over 800 beanies since 1997 and use 13 tubs to store them.

I'll just list my active collections. There have been others over the years, such as the Chevron cars, that I have lost interest in.

- Some My Little Pony, mostly third gen these days; this collection is too massive and I plan to purge it by about 5/6ths

- Playmobil Pirate and Western themes

- American Girl dolls

- Barbie of all eras (this is more something I dabble in and I only have two ponytail era dolls, one of which is a bubblecut that belonged to my mom)

- Japanese lucky beckoning cats, "maneki neko."

- Sock monkeys

- Older video game consoles and games

- Build a Bear

- Terry Pratchett's Discworld books. I have them all in English, a few UK only items such as three Guild yearbooks, and several of the books in French and German translations

- Books on go and chess/ a few chess and go sets. I am a very poor chess and go player, but I love the games anyway. *laugh*

Besides SF's, I currently collect the following...

Video Games (I have over 500 for 10+ consoles)
DVD's (Mainly anime)
Anime figures
Justice League Unlimited figures
Stuffed Animals
Books (Mainly books on religion, philosophy, the unexplained, animals, etc..)

I have collected many other items in the past. These include comics, cards, various action figure lines, PEZ, etc...

Too much! :P

- Dolls (emphasis on American Girl)

- Model Horses (emphasis on Breyers)

- 80's toys (Too many lines to name, but my biggest collections are My Little Pony and Pound Puppies)

- Fad Toys (Beanie Babies and Webkinz and Neopets at the moment)

- Pooh! (emphasis on Eeyore)

- Muppets (emphasis on Kermit)

- Penguins (literally, anything penguin)

- Tigers (anything tiger, including the tattoo on my ankle)

- TV on DVD (Have all of X-Files, working on House, ER, Boston Legal, The Simpsons and MST3K)

- Used paperbacks follow me home. I don't try to collect these on purpose, but I never seem to get away from a day of garage saling without a dozen or so. :P

Ummmm...I think that's about it. Unless you count stray animals. My parents and I have six dogs and three cats, and only two of the dogs were actually planned. The rest just sort of showed up through one twist of fate or another, lol.

<3 Mare

Ummmmm...I think that's it.

posticon Re: What else do you collect?

I have been in love with SF since the late 80's but considered myself too old and SF too expensive. I bought my first SF house in the early 90's and over time became completely addicted. I recently sold my collection of over 50 houses / shops / schools etc etc complete with characters and furniture to the Wanaka Transport and Toy museum (That's in the South Island of New Zealand). I have a few favourite boxed Japanese characters and my Misty Forest Collection still in my possession. I feel the urge to start all over again now that their 7 display cabinets and 2 shelving units look so bare! I am now in my 50's and still have large collections of NABCO Muffy Bear and accessories, Fairy Winkles, Littlest Pet Shop originals, Playmobil (although I have just gifted my Victorian Mansion to grandchildren) and that's just some of the toys. I also have huge collections of chocolate molds, Christmas decorations, cooking utensils, Portmeirion china, books, teaching resources, dragons, New Zealand art,embroidery/scrapbooking/weaving/crafts and there's more!?!?! That's me! A compulsive acquisitor!!!

It's great to be back in touch after a long time away from the discussion! Looking forward to catching up with old friends!

Blessings!

Re: What else do you collect?

Hello my name is Marie 32, and mother of two.
I collect Sylvanian and Forest Families of which I have many!
It was my sister that first started collecting Sylvanians when we were little, I never got any!!!!
As we've entered adult hood I claimed my sisters Sylvanian's which had been in a P.E bag in the loft for years then I started buying even more when I discovered the wonderful world of ebay!
Through ebay I've also made a lot of good friends and I also started collecting Forest Families which I'm also mad about and have lots. I have now started selling them for myself on ebay, and I hope to maybe some day have as many as Sirri - Xara's Forest Families, Ha! Ha!
I'm very surprised I haven't seen any more Forest Families collectors in this group, if any of you our please let me know, I'd love to get to know other collectors, which is good as we can each help each other out in getting figures we still need!
I also collect Treasured Pals, which our resin figures that look like there made of fur, unless you touched them!!!! There also very cute but unfortunately my collection is now put away in a box has I've got no display room left as my Sylvanians take up most of the room, in fact my entire living room and the kids don't get to touch them ether!!!!!!
I also like arts and crafts e.g card making so I've combined my love of both and started decorating Sylvanian houses like group member All4Her does and friend Sonya, Sparky-lb does on ebay which our two very talented people!!!!!
Well that's all for now, happy collecting!!!! Marie. xxxx
