"There are not over a hundred people in the United States who hate the Catholic Church. There are millions, however, who hate what they wrongly believe to be the Catholic Church, which is, of course, quite a different thing." -Bishop Fulton J. Sheen
Placating terrorists, meeting with dictators, compassion for murderers... but no humanity for the unborn... incredible.

Re: Where's Nord? Tony, Michael, Tom, Natalie, AD and everyone - Nord is here to say hello. I have checked in every now and then to see what is up here, but promised a Catholic friend of mine over a year ago that I would not return to this board. She had been insisting for many months that religious debating was not good for me and that I needed to quit. While I do consider all of you friends, I believe on balance her advice was sound.
I hope all is ok with everyone. I developed a medical condition a few months ago. I blame it on an unsual amount of stress. My regular Dr referred me to a specialist. Tests were run and the specialist does not think the matter is serious, but he has ordered meds and a new blood test in 6 weeks.
It is good to know that one is missed. My...... I just read your post, Tony. Very funny. So I should resume my normal posting habits?
I check the CWN website every few days for some interesting information. I learned a lot of neat stuff there in just the last week. (1) The Church has decided that a spot in the French Alps did have a visitation by the Virgin Mary. (2) Pope John Paul's would-be-assasin has applied for Polish citizenship (3) Rumor has it that John Paul will be beatified in October? Have any of you heard of these news tidbits?
Re: Where's Nord? Nord, it is wonderful to hear from you. I am a bit dismayed why anyone would recommend you cease your religious debate. You have shared with us great insight, and have I believe a gift for word. There is no raging debates that can be found here as there was on the POTC forum. Now, I can certainly agree that periodical breaks are needed, but the sharing of our faiths is essential as well. Please re-think your promise my friend, and join us here once again.
I am also sorry to hear of your condition. You have never left my prayers. Please keep us posted.

Re: Where's Nord? Tony,
I will agree that I have benefited from Nord's positions. At least I am more of a pacifist than I ever was before and that is partially due to his stance on early Church pacifism.
But in general, I think the big theological Battle Royals have ceased, here and elsewhere. Maybe we are all just friends at this point?
Re: Where's Nord? I hope you will always be my friend, Michael. Friends are important. I will try and keep all of you updated on my medical situation. At least you know now I am still in the land of the living, Tony...
Re: Where's Nord? Nord, perhaps you can invite your Catholic friend here to talk with us. I would really like to understand why she would advise anyone not to debate their faith. And why specifically not return to this forum?

Re: Where's Nord? Well, Tony, she has two computers sitting at home and neither one is hooked up to the internet. I have asked her to do so, so we could correspond via email and so she could do research on various topics, including some religious ones, but she has no time! She is age 75 and she works 5 days a week, on a volunteer basis, helping out her son at the business he owns, God bless her! She also babysits one evening per week. She also works pt time out of her home for disabled vets. If and when she ever gets hooked up to the internet, I will invite her to come. Maybe I will mention it anyway. She might well enjoy it.
Meanwhile, my good news is that the specialist thinks my thyroid problem is in remission and that it may soon be back to normal. Let us hope so.
p.s. - Tony, my friend called tonight. We discussed this board. She said that she has no problem with me being here, as long as I stay away from debates. She also said that she might be interested in coming here herself, if she ever signs up for the internet.
