"‘Tonight, in the city of David, a Savior is born, 'tis Christ the Lord.'"

"There are not over a hundred people in the United States who hate the Catholic Church. There are millions, however, who hate what they wrongly believe to be the Catholic Church, which is, of course, quite a different thing."
-Bishop Fulton J. Sheen
Placating terrorists, meeting with dictators, compassion for murderers... but no humanity for the unborn... incredible.

Re: Angels and demons

I have a thing about giving Dan Brown money. I don't do it.

Re: Angels and demons

I guess my next question would be, how can one fault something they have never seen? How can one be secure in their estimation based on hearsay?

Re: Angels and demons

I certainly would not classify all second hand knowledge as hearsay. I have never seen an atom either yet I am quite sure they exist.

There are more scholarly resources available.

Re: Angels and demons

I would agree with you there, definitely.

However, we are talking about a work of fiction, not something that can be quantified, with a solid proof passed on from person to person. We are talking about people getting angry about stories. Admittedly fictional ones, with SOME historically accurate portions to add to the realism of the story.

You can see the same thing in pretty much any story of decent caliber. Why not get angry at people who write World War 2 stories, or other such, that play off of historical text to make a story sound plausible?

Is it simply because this story happens to propose odd things about religion, specifically? Is religion a taboo subject? Is it not open to discussion? Open for use as source material just like any other book or ideology that is existing in the world?

Re: Angels and demons

The problem with Dan Brown's stories is that he sells them as revelations of great secrets. People read them and if they don't know any better they believe things like Jesus was married to Mary Magdelene, or the Council of Nicea declared Jesus a God and selected the Gospels, or the Catholic Church murdered the Illuminati order. These are lies and why should people just accept that lies are popular?

I do remember that I tried to watch The DaVinci Code on television once. I had to turn it off it was so bad.

Perez Hilton is a pathetic pervert. And why is that fruit judging a beauty pageant anyway? It is not like he has any appreciation of women.
