WinWar II 5 Update

It has been a long time since I wrote an update about WinWar II 5. The fact is that I reached a roadblock in my previous development effort with this version. My internal data structures representing the units had some fundamental problems that caused development to bog down. After some time of digesting this I came up with a better architecture for the game, and am making good progress once again.

I also came up with some new ideas that I hope will lead to a more fun and flavorful experience.

As you know, each player represents a Major Power in World War II, controlling conventional forces like infantry, armor, fighters, and navies. But now, each player also controls a Head of State figure that has a dynamic popularity rating, and Military Leaders (Generals, Admirals, etc.) that boost the morale of forces that are with and adjacent to.

Also, each player will have 1 or more spies that they can move about the map to reveal enemy force concentrations there.

In the shot below, Germany has already invaded Belgium and the Netherlands, with General Keitel leading these forces. They have sent a spy into Eastern Poland and are about to invade Western Poland.

Nifty.

Will there be any possibility of generals being defeated in battle and captured by the enemy?

Yes, if a force with a General or Head of State is defeated, there is a chance the character is eliminated (captured or killed, but effectively put out of play.) The chance will be equal to the number of enemy units remaining in the zone. If the character escapes it would be moved into an adjacent friendly or neutral zone.
