Version 2 Ideas
I still get quite a few compliments on Proliferation, which never went past the Version 1 stage. I am maintaining a page of brainstorming ideas for Proliferation version 2.

Re: Version 2 Ideas
Awesome! Proliferation was always my favorite game. The approval rating determined by action idea sounds great, does that mean there will be no more diplomatic units?

Re: Version 2 Ideas
Not necessarily. I think Diplomats would be used to improve the stance of territories toward a player, and probably would be needed in order to allow players to forge alliances.

Link to TRIPLEA
It's definitivly not Proliferation however it may an interesting free game in a similiar context:
Triple A is an Axis & Allies clone, developed in JAVA. The interesting thing for "gamers" that would like to develop their own units and maps: You can download the source. And I guess there are some additional map builing tools.
Documentation maybe as always on a low level, however the game session the last week was fun. They have implemented all rules and all maps that have been developed for the original boardgames within the last decades.

Re: Version 2 Ideas
I loved Proliferation. Still have a copy on my old PC that I play from time to time.
One thing that always bugged me about it was that somewhere around mid-game, my economy would always disintegrate. No matter how much I spent on building farms, no matter how careful I was with the nukes, my population would suddenly plummet, as if there were a plague or something. After that, it would fluctuate rather wildly, making it very hard to plan.
Biological warfare's probably too out of style to take a role in such a game, but maybe it could be interesting as an option... if the new version has any kind of diplomacy. On the other hand, it could easily become a last-resort game-wrecker.
Can't wait to see a Proliferation 2!
