"His Destiny" - Rated PG (A Obi Wan Short Fic)
**Hey ya'll. This is a little story based off a novel my friend is writing about Star Wars. It's basically a sneak preview... and if you like this, you'll LOVE the novel which we will be posting shortly. I'll come back and give ya'll the link asap. Anyhow, this is a different take on the Jedi Ways... and it's a love story... with some original characters, and so I don't expect anyone to really fully understand till they read the novel...but, I was inspired... and so...here you go. Enjoy and take it for what it is. Comments are welcome!! **
General Obi Wan Kenobi had never felt like this before, and the feeling was so intense to him that he wondered if he was going to be able to stand up from the chair he sat in. The feeling was strange, new and exciting - he remembered his Master telling him about it many, many years ago but he was counciled to let it go, that if it got in the way of the Jedi ways of life, it would destroy him.
In fact, it had almost destroyed his best friend and old Padawan learner.
Up he went from his chair, his legs nearly faltering beneath him as he grabbed onto Moonay's arm, escorting her from the grand hall.
The war was over, and had been for nearly a month. The Sith Lord had been hunted down and destroyed. Anakin had fulfilled his destiny. He had brought balance to the Force. Light and beauty had taken shape in almost every corner of the galaxy.
And it was then that our hero, Obi Wan Kenobi, began to wonder about his own destiny.
His dearest friend, the woman he had spent a billion or more moments with now stood at his side, a newly appointed Jedi Master.
Her simple, but stunning bronze gown hung perfectly on her young, toned frame. She had taken her fair share of blaster fire but it could not even be seen tonight. Her golden brown hair accented her dress, falling down to the middle of her back, and landing on her soft bare shoulders.
A radiant glow seemed all about her body as stepped out onto the balcony of the highest council tower at the Jedi Temple. There were fireworks going off just for her and the stars seemed to gleam with perfect brilliance putting on their own show for the Jedi Princess.
That's what she had become to Obi Wan now. A Princess. He had traveled to far corners of the galaxy never to find any other royalty more breathtaking, or more beautiful. She was exquisite and as she turned to face him, looking into his deep eyes full of war torn sorrow he was unable to stop the tender smile forming on his lips.
She spoke softly, like wind ruffling his hair on Naboo, "I must thank you for tonight. I was afraid I would say something silly or trip over my gown. You helped me through it... whether you realize it or not."
He could barely speak, and his throat felt dry, "You were flawless, and very impressive for the Council. I'm sure they are very happy and confident in their decison to make you a Master."
"Somehow I still feel unworthy of such an honor." Moonay Aldis looked down towards the fireworks, and they seemed to light her eyes even more. It was just her way, so humble, like she didn't even realize the full affect she had made on the universe. Without her help they may not have been nearly as successful on their missions.
And in fact, Obi Wan knew he would have NOT made it without her. He said nothing, being carried away ... for the first time in his whole existence he was totally in tune to his own heart, and to the moments he was sharing with Moonay.

Re: "His Destiny" - Rated PG (A Obi Wan Short Fic)
She smiled, gazing about the view, "This is my home. Look at my home Obi Wan. Free of danger, of darkness, it's full of light again and happy people running about their daily business. Dinner's being cooked, the father sitting watching the holonet, the kids bustling about telling grand stories of their heroes." She narrowed her eyes, and seemed to be watching it happening, "We're the heroes they talk about. We're the light shining in their homes. We are the pictures hanging on their walls." She paused, and swallowed, "I've been that girl. I've been in that room, staring up at a grand image of a Master Obi Wan Kenobi. Wishing with her whole heart she could but meet him. Now here I am...I’m standing with the very man, I longed to be with.”
Obi Wan cleared his throat, “It is my dearest honor. I am truly grateful that Naiya took you as her Padawan. It has been quite the adventure… you and I together. I have not always been easy to deal with.” He laughed, raising his eyes towards the sky.
“No. No you haven’t. But, I haven’t been perfect either. We’ve learned much together.”
“May I show you something?” Obi Wan asked, carefully reaching for her gentle hand and taking it into his strong one. Wondering if he was squeezing too hard. Wondering if he could break her if he gave her a hug. He was new to everything. It was just like he was a child again.
“Of course.”
He led her down the long corridors and flights of steps to a room he knew she had always loved. The orbital mapping room. He reached over to grab the controls and pulled up a star map. The glittering galaxy formed around their heads and Moonay appeared delighted. She loved the stars, and never tired of looking at them on this intriguing system. She could be in the middle of them, and feel perfectly content and at one with the Force. In fact, she had been known to come into one of these types of rooms often, draw the shades and spend a whole day meditating. Obi Wan knew it was special to her, but had never really admitted that he knew that. Until now.
He watched her intently as she located certain planets, “I had a long council with Master Yoda this evening before the ceremony. He helped me find answers to many things I had been questioning recently.”
“That is wonderful. What types of things do you speak of?” Her eyes met his, through the stars.
“Attachments.” He said, and then lowered his eyes, “I asked him what was expected of us Jedi now. Now that we are merely policemen, saving the galaxy, but with no real threat of danger. He told me that we have a bit more freedom to live a normal life.”
“Normal?” She was shocked, “I hardly know what I would do. I have been a Jedi so long… I know nothing else. Explain to me. What type of normal?”
“Well, you see… we could have a civilian job, a house of our own, we would still train and be Jedi, I assure you… and while attachments are still to be handled delicately, we are allowed to make a decision of whether or not we should have them. Would they benefit the galaxy? Would they make us stronger? Many questions I have pondered as of late, dear one.” He said the last words with a twinkle in his eye and a smirky smile on his face.
“Well! That is some news! No wonder I’ve sensed confusion in you lately, Master.” Moonay was walking closer to him now, and stopped only a few inches in front of him. “And what have you decided?”
The next words would go down in history as the most difficult for General Kenobi to say, not that he didn’t want to say them…but because it was not like him at all. “I have never wanted anything more from life. I was brought up under the Jedi way my whole entire life. I never knew anything else, unlike Anakin – or you for that matter. But there are feelings lately – tremors in my own heart that cause me to see more clearly. Master Yoda told me to listen to my own heart – for once – and I am. He says my heart will not betray that which is right… and he was speaking of tonight.” The sturdy Jedi paused, there was something in his eyes that Moonay recognized, from when she was a child – he continued, “Am I wrong to want just a little bit of happiness for my own? For just once?”
It was the most candid he had ever spoken to her in a long time. And it was also the most sincere he had ever been.
“My old master, Qui Gon Jinn once told Master Yoda that ‘Love is the answer to the darkness.’ I embrace that philosophy now.” His soft voice pierced the quiet in the room as he spoke these words to her; it was as if the universe was at his command, that he had spoken perfect truth.
That very moment he found himself embracing Moonay, pulling her close to him, letting the warmth penetrate their souls. He had wanted this since he had first met her, yet years and years of pain, anguish, war, and chaos had stopped it… yes, because it was supposed to. But, now… all Obi Wan Kenobi could feel was the beat of his heart with her own.
And then, their lips met… slowly, nervously… their first kiss, that turned a little more passionate. All of the waiting suddenly leapt out of Obi Wan and Moonay’s soul… and collided through their lips and embrace.
It was as if planets went into alignment, that the stars rejoiced around, that the whole universe suddenly took a deep, and much awaited breath…
And then, perfect calmness…
And Obi Wan knew in that instant what had happened…
He had fulfilled his destiny. He had done his every duty with total sacrifice. Now he would receive his reward. He flashbacked to words he had heard as a youngling, standing in the master council chambers…
“Young Obi Wan, faithful apprentice he is. Many years of good deeds his life will be. Powerful. Strong. Compassionate, yes. Love his reward. Yes…” Yoda had said these words then quickly denied them. He didn’t want him to remember them. It was not the Jedi way. So, Yoda had kept them to himself…
All till this moment. This moment where everything was perfectly clear and unmistakable to Obi Wan Kenobi.
Her hands were running through his feathered hair now, as she kissed his cheeks and let silent tears stream down her face. He would not let her go, did not want to ever leave this room, he wanted to be with her until the day he died…holding her…
“Forgive me,” He smiled and placed his strong hands on her face, tilting her head back so he could look into her eyes again, “I seem to have lost all control there.” Obi Wan lowered his voice, “I…well…what’s…how do I say this? Uh..” He seemed quite embarrassed for the first time.
“You love me.” It wasn’t a question. It was a statement. Moonay smiled, letting his whole demeanor soften.
The next words were simple.
“Yes. I love you Moonay, more than I or this universe can even comprehend.”
The words may have sounded like something a schoolboy would say to a giggling schoolgirl, as he chased her around, but at that moment…that’s exactly what they were.
~*~*~*
Years would pass, and the two of them will become the greatest team of Jedi the universe has ever seen. Because together, they were one, and unstoppable against any foe.
The power of love would save them… It was a part of the Force, when used correctly, that could not be broken by any torment or darkness.
The End – for now… =)
