Fords Boss
The Boss is extremely quiet for a change - seems ominous! I assume he's still in charge?
Have heard the Fords have signed a few but lost a few good players this summer - any news?
Missing his musings while I try to do some work!

Re: Fords Boss
I suspect James is having a well earned holiday as I note his 1sts haven't had a game for at least the first 2 weeks of the season, whereas the reserves are already playing Div 5 fixtures.
The fixture computer seems to have thrown up a few of these situations where Reserve teams play and First teams don't start for a bit. I recall Waldon's first team crew complaining on this forum about the idol and unproductive weeks at the start of the season.
It's a tough old job, and as I recall everybody syaing last year, and every other year for as long as I can remember, I wouldn't want the job!!!!!!!!!
Despite spending some time on the executive before and after Jack's reign, I never really sussed why Fred Hewings and some paper, or Jack Collier & some paper seemed more efficent than all the expensive computer systems.
Perhaps they just spent all day everyday poring over the fixtures until they found the optimum version. And of course they weren't trying to accomodate higher League's fixtures to optimise best pitch facilities for our teams.

Re: Fords Boss
hi chaps, just busy at work. We have never started til september, pitch used for local events on saturdays(carnival, flower show, fordstock when on). evenings its difficult to get through totnes due to tourists. so always start september. we have our own pitch so we can always catch up. Im sure Any will sort the fixtures so teams dont have spare weeks aswell so i cant see a fixture backlog this year.
Ref the team, we have lost rims, but that was expected, hes still signed on and if things dont work out he will return. Justin Lashley went to kingsteignton, a few older players wanting to drop down to the reserves. disappointed a key palyer sdeicded to retire early but thats his chioce. in contrast we have a few 16 years old signed on, who in a half a season of mens footy will be good additions, we have signed 3 new players who will be reg first teamers.
Our problem wont be the quality of our starting 11 if all available. but lack of numbers if 2 -8 are out. we have small squads. In div 1 this could be a problem and our potential downfall in div 1 as its a big step up from 5 to 1. We are still looking for additional players to add to the firsts and especially a forward

Re: Fords Boss
Yes so is ours.
I never suspected anything else. As you rightly say, a big step from 1 to 5 or vice versa. Sounds like both clubs have an identical tale at present so we're looking forward to it.
Our aftermatch hospitality is at Molloys at the bottom of St Marychurch precinct and there'll be food and a large screen TV on if you want to tell the lads pre-match.

Re: Fords Boss
Contrary to handbook which says Quinta(last game there April 2008), we are at Barton Downs No 2.
Looking really good surface-wise at present, grass thick but not too long, though obviously no match for a level pitch anywhere!!
It makes a change to have hot showers. After waiting ages for Westlands to fix them we gave up and returned to Council facilities. Plenty of promises no delivery.

Re: Fords Boss
First team at Windmill, sharing with Torbay Christians.
Will be great when they cut the overgrown dog-walking area so you can find the balls in the undergrowth.
