Match Reports 3/10

After starting the game with 6 players missing we were expecting a very tough game from a team who have been tipped as promotion candidates.

As it happened the players that came in for us did extremely well and will make selection for next week very difficult with 4 players available again. 1st half was a complete one way thing and we went in 5-0 up after 45mins, Jamie Meaden scoring a 1st half hatrick and Shaun Waldron with 2. 2nd half was a lot tighter but we still had as many chances as Kerswell and conceded a late penalty much to Jason's despair.

Man if the Match Jamie Meaden who took a fair battering from hfrustrated Kerswell players who tried to kick him off the pitch after having no joy stopping him legally. Some awful tackles!!! Were some good battles throughout the game though.

Team: Kinsman, P Allen, Hewings, Hart, Holmes, Peart, Bishop, Reed, G Allen, Waldron & Waldron. Subs used: Streeter & Crane.

Goals: Meaden (3) Waldron (2) Streeter (1)

Buckfastleigh 3-2 Langdon

Not a great performance from us and not a very good game to watch in all honesty. We started badly and Langdon scored after 5 minutes when a low cross from the left wing found the Langdon striker unmarked to sidefoot in from close range.
We equalised soon after when James Revell bundled the ball over the line from Eric Hale's corner. The rest of the 1st half was scrappy but Ryan Porter had a great chance to put us ahead just before half time but the keeper got a good hand to his shot.
We improved slightly 2nd half and Paul England put us 2-1 up with a great finish to lift the ball over the keeper from a narrow angle, then Ryan Porters right wing cross looped over the keeper into the far corner to put us 3-1 up.
We then had 2 or 3 good chances to wrap up the game but got a bit sloppy with our passing in the last 15 minutes and Langdon could've got something from the game if they'd brought their shooting boots! They did pull a goal back in the dying minutes but Buckfastleigh just did enough to deserve the 3 points.

Brixham United 0 Stoke Gabriel Res 2

Poor display by us really, but again we had poor availability with 8 missing. Credit to Brixham Utd and there management team of Steve and Roger, they battled hard and kept the scroe down,Scott Bond their keeper had a great game.

Our scorers Matt White and Richard Baker. Three clean sheets in a row which is a good thing.

Stoke Gabriel 2 Newton United 0

A depleted side ,again we were missing about 6 players, due to work,or injured, but we were still able to field a strong side.

0-0 at halftime, but a quick talking too at half time, allowed us to come out fired up,we took the lead with in seconds of the restart, with a well taken header from Matt White, and minutes later Tom Birch scored to make it 2-0,we really should have scored more, but we are not shipping many goals.

Well done Newton Utd,kept battling.

Buckfastleigh 3 Meadowbrook 1
Organised defending weathered the early storm from Bucks and we looked increasingly dangerous on the break and getting pace up against their back four. Took the lead on about 20 minutes as pacy Ramsden nipped in behind the back four. Looked even game and was looking forward to going in at halftime winning for the first time this season. Didn't happen as Bucks scored with a 25 yarder out of nothing that flew into the top corner with the last kick of the half. Buckfastleigh came out strong in the 2nd half and ran the game as our midfield went missing. Couldn't continue to expose their back four as we had in the 1st half. They scored for m a corner with a thumping header and sealed the game with a good turn on our last man. Both sides missed chances but we need to learn to play for 90 minutes and not 60. Be interested on Bailos take on the game. Will be a good game stoke v Bucks next week.

66 1-2 Hele Rovers

obviously not the result we were looking for.

Despite controlling the 1st half and not looking under threat at all we only went in at 1-0 after Greg Allens header gave us the lead. Should probably have been a couple more after a few missed chances.

Second half was a different game and Hele came into more with their long ball game troubling our back 4 in contrast to the first half where we dealt with it easily. We conceded two soft goals and found ourselves 2-1 down with about 20 mins remaining.

Despite having more of the ball we couldn't break down the Hele defence and seemed to be playing to their strengths and not our own.

To summarise Hele are a hard working team and were a lot stronger than when we played a couple of weeks ago but felt we didn't perform well and were made to pay for poor finishing.

Team: Kinsman, Allen, Hewings, Bishop, Holmes, Peart, Waldron, Reed, Allen, Peterson & Meaden. Subs used Partyka.

P.S not one to moan about refs but Saturdays was not great at all!!!
