Re: Match Chat
INTERMEDIATE CUP 3
BOVEY TRACEY RES 8 WALDON RES 0
A harsh result on Waldon against a Bovey team that were able to field Sneap and Head again, Must say however the Waldon side was virtually un-recognisable to the one that inflicted a league defeat on us.
Bovey weren't at their flowing best 1st half although they just about deserved their 1 nil lead, which came courtesy of Ben Head's far post slide finish from a half cleared Miller corner.
Bovey had a great chance to make it 2 nil when a quick passing move saw Blackie thread Martin Ware through but with just the keeper to beat he chipped his shot over the bar.
I must say Waldon quite impressed me for an hour and they had a great chance to level on 30 mins when a good move down the left ended with a low cross which Jay ? reached and looked certain to score, however Bovey keeper Anderson made a great save for a corner.
Waldon had good pace and movement upfront but often found themselves matched by Bovey's rock solid and pacy defender Tom Arnold.
In Waldons defence the tall lad Luke who used to play upfront is better there than he used to be up top and he was well backed up by an experienced centreback that looks like Fergie! (of upton)
Bovey ran out of ideas1st half.
2nd half again Waldon didn't look to bad to start but Bovey were a threat once going forward.
Bovey's big striker Henson was played through o 50 minutes and needed 2 bites of the cherry to finish past Archer and make it 2 nil, Soon after Sneap hit an absolute beauty from 20 + yards that the keeper got his hands to but couldn't stop.
On 55 minutes Bovey withdrew Head and sent on Adam Baxter but just over a minute later Brooks had to be withdrawn after pulling his thigh muscle and on went Stanbridge.
Bovey looked unfazed and eventually Waldon started tiring although the strikers still looked good with their movement.
On 70 minutes Ware burst forward and squared for Henson to grab his 2nd,
Bovey went 3-5-2 and then Sowerby who had moved inside added a 5th.
Bovey sent on Reeves and he was unlucky to shoot just wide after a great Soweby ball put him through.
On 80 minutes Sneap went through 1 on 1 and was blatantly wiped out by the keeper but the other wise faultless referee Taylor didn't give the pen.
4 minutes later Sneap grabbed his 2nd and then completed his hatrick from a top piece of unselfish play from Henson.
In the final minute Sneap powered through the right again and this time he squared for 'holding midfielder'Adam Blackie to score from 3 yards out.
Wasn't expecting 8 after the way Waldon played for an hour but perhaps they put so much in they tired and if they continue to play as they did for that 1st hour then they will upset a few teams this season.

It was a good well contested match, and yes they did only have 2 first teamers, and 1 was on the bench. to be fair to teignmouth they are a good side , with quick wingers and a sollid defence. They just need to pull together in there tough times and they will definately avoid the drop. Having a keeper this week helped them too, and the defence did have the confidence with him behind them.
good luck for the season and in the next round against Hookhills ,
