Fords 2-5 Pens
When reading the sdfl site and saw read this, I had to chuckle:
'The wind played havoc at Harbertonford'
What a ridiculous statement - yes it was a bit blowy, but it hardly 'played havoc'.
Great toss to win though and Ipplepen used the advantage of the conditions 1st half. A great strike from Bres and a well placed header from Jonesy put Pens 2-0 up after about 15 mins.
Fords seemed to panic and substituted their left back which seemed a little harse. Si Roberts and John Doyle added to the scoreline before Harberton then were forced to make another sub due to a defensive injury.
Roberts made it 5-0 thanks to a great strike from distance after the Fords keeper had gone walkabout before half time.
Second half, Fords came out keen to use the conditions, and after about 10 mins they got their break, after the referee ignored the offside flag and waved play on. The Striker (Bovey?) obligingly took the oppurtunity and finished well.
The home side threw more and more players forward, and were awarded a somewhat fortuitous penalty which Bovey converted. 5-2 Full time.
Again Pens missed chances throughout the match and the Fords skipper (who was exemplary throughout) did hit the bar in both halves.
Wind played havoc? - No just one side played the conditions and one didn't.
As a footnote just like to mention the Fords no.6 'Hutch' is it? - All first half thought he was going to have a seizure - seemed to be going extemely red with his continual cries of 'Humpball, humpball, humpball, that's all they've got!!!!'. Obvoiusly he didn't actually analyse where the goals came from - not one was from a punt over the top. But as in the game, I'll reply with 'Yes that's all we've got and we're 5-0 up, cheers fella!'.
At the end of the day it's Division 5 football. Also liked his sportsmanship of walking off without shaking hands with anyone! Hope he's ok anyway and someone hid the shoelaces round his place (or anything that could have made a noose).

wind played havoc, 5-0 with wind, change around 5-2!! 7 goals with the wind!! umm> mind you baksno19, i saw bristol driving his taxi the other night, it was like he was watchinga different road as well as a diff game!!!! hahaha
ps, i wasnt there, we were on top of a hill in loddiswell. they had to put a few dumbbells on teh ball to keep it in the village
