Buckfastliegh Res 5 Bovey Tracey 3rds 0 (postmortem)

Another extraordianary game for Bovey 3rds in which without sounding bias,Bovey domiated the first half only to see Bucks score with their first 2 attempts on goal on 30 and 33 minutes.

Bovey went into this game with very high hopes as we had our strongest attacking line up available for the 1st time this season, however defensivly centrehalfs Gimson and Pyne were misssing and striker Blackmore was used in goal after our No1 dislocated his foot on Thursday.

Bovey enjoyed a mass of 1st half possesion, within 3 minutes shaun Douglas had a clear view of goal from the edge of the box, however he pulled his shot a yard wide.
Then from a corner Dave Steer saw his powerful header superbly tipped over by the impressive Buckfastliegh keeper.
Then a carbon copy corner saw the same player head inches wide.

For Bucks the centre mid,i think called Declan Cowley showed up well with some promosing passing,
Bovey were defending well and playing right through the midfield where Armstrong and Cornish were getting a lot of space.

Bovey stiker Morgan then got in on the act with 2 efforts but they were straight at the keeper, his next effort however was a real escape for Bucks, Morgs took a pass from Douglas turned and advanced at a worried Bucks defence, his effort unfortunately for us struck the underside of the bar.
The same player then created havoc from a Steer cross, and Morgans effort was superbly scrambled off the line.
But the game then followed a similar pattern to previos games, us not turning superiority into goals and then the other side scoring.

On 30 minutes Nigel Stevens lost his marker and nodded down a cross, the Buckfast striker Hannaford still had a lot to do but,he controlled the ball well before smashing a beauty into the top corner from 15 yards.

I had been reluctant to join in attacks from fullback as we had given away a lot of final ball in Buckfasts half, this was highlighted in the 33rd minute, my pass found Vaughan and rushed to join him, however he decided to cut in and lost the ball, A Bucks defender played the ball right into the gap where i would've been and Hannaford beat our veteran centreback Moyle to cross low where Parsons was waiting to score from close range.

We pressed on winning a few more corners but,1 of these almost led to another Buckfast goal when our keeper had a rush of blood and came running out only to be beaten to the ball, fortunately for us Blanchard had got back on the line to control the shot and then clear the danger.

2nd half again started well for us but deteriorated. We had 2 superb chances to start, first Douglas created a bit of space from a pass and found himself 8 yards out with the goal at his mercy, however he blasted his powerful effort over.
Danny Cornish wont thank me for mentioning this next miss! but it somes up our luck at the moment, i think it was Morgan who found himself through on goal with the keeper to beat, he squared to Cornish who was 2 yards out waiting to side foot home, alas the ball took a nasty bobble (so he says!! ha ha) and went over his foot!

Bucks then sowed the game up on 65 minutes with a close range shot from Potter after a freekick bounced back out to him.
A minute later and Cowley struck the outside of the post from just inside the box.

In truth we tired now and despite having a fair bit of ball,Buckfast looked increasingly confident and dangerous on the break.
We went 3 at the back and were breached twice more, the 5th saw Potter play a 1-2 around my tired legs before firing home at the near post. Our keeper Blackmore also managed an un-orthodox catch from a lobbed attempt!

I was really down yesterday but looking back i just feel we need to take the lead in a game. Just finishing missing at the moment.
Well done to Buckfastliegh on a deserved win.

Tis true Bakes, Mr Stevens is back and playing the Makelele role emoticon We've got such a young side it's vital to have a couple of older heads in there to point them in the right direction (and they don't come much older than Nige!! emoticon )
I watched our reserves at Bishops last week and was not impressed to say the least, so this result came as a shock when I heard it!! Great for the lads to get their 1st win and hopefully they will grow in confidence now.

In very hot and sticky conditions, Rangers comprehensively recorded their first win of the season; a result that put them up into fifth place. The game started very poorly for Rangers who found it difficult to make their passing stick. Bovey had the better of the opening exchanges as Rangers could not find their rhythm. Bovey had a couple of decent chances as keeper Tim Mason’s kick fell straight to a Bovey player 30 yards out with the goal gaping and Chris Bailey produced a superb block to stop the goal bound shot. Rangers were forced into a change as Danny Beer had to leave the field through injury. His replacement Ricky Clanford slotted straight onto the right-hand side of midfield. Shortly after this Rangers started to find more rhythm in their passing and were beginning to test the Bovey defence. The opener came 30 minutes into the game and was a superb breakthrough. Nigel Stevens managed to head down a free kick into the path of Nathan Parsons who hit a stunning left footed half volley into the stanchion in the goal. It was his first of the season and will not score another as good as that for a while! 1-0.
Rangers doubled their advantage five minutes later with another good goal. This time Declan Cowley played the ball down the right wing to the impressive Parsons and his accurate low cross found Josh Hannaford whose strike beat the Bovey keeper and brought Hannaford to three goals so far for the season. 2-0. Rangers had really taken a strangle hold of the game and we tormenting the Bovey defence. It stayed 2-0 until half times and both teams would have been glad for the break in difficult conditions.
After the break Bovey continued to test Mason in the Rangers goal but his handling from corners especially and shot stopping was faultless and Bovey were frustrated. His clean sheet showed how well he had played. James Ellis came on in the second half replacing one of the scorers Hannaford who had worked hard all match. Not long later Ellis made a huge impression on the match and got Rangers’ third after Martin Potter’s shot was parried by the Bovey keeper and Ellis’ sweet strike made it 3-0.
Rangers were dominant now as Parsons could have and should have added to his goal tally for the day, but could not take his chances. Martin Potter also hit a post along with Cowley as Rangers threatened a trouncing. Potter then made up for his earlier miss as he got the fourth and fifth as Rangers saw the game out well. His second and Rangers’ fifth came after a superb mazy run from Matt Grute who found Potter wide on the right. He then played an intricate ‘one, two’ and was left with a one on one and finished with ease. It capped of a very good display by Rangers who after this will certainly be up for the away trip to Dittisham next week.

Match report by Ricky Clanford.

Hmmm, not a bad report although i would disagree that the sub changed the game and defenitly feel Bovey dominated practically all the 1st 45 minutes, Defensivly 1st half we felt very comfortable other than what i have mentioned.
However would agree with the 2nd half assesment as we faded badly after the 3rd went in.

Gooders- Yea we probably had our strongest side to date out on Saturday, just really the keeper and Gimmo who could've maybe influenced the scoreline, maybe another midfielder who was missing to.
Over half the team was last seasons division 3 side and all have been willing to drop down so far.

Im pretty confident if we play like that from now on (1st hour) then surely we will start hammering teams!
