applebys have their first pre-season on sunday at barton downs versus marldon. 11am ko. after that it's a selection match for the rep side to play exeter. applebys will be playing an invitaional team and the squad will be selected from the two teams. after that applebys will play in the charity shield then it's torbay sfl 11 v exeter sfl select 11. the dates for these two games maybe switched. then applebys take on devon premier cup winners lakeside. all dates are yet to be decided.

Re: NEWS

The Torbay Sunday League management committee have called time on Devon Arms FC. The Torquay pub side have failed to reconcile outstanding debts to both the League and DCFA . Despite the league showing great patience with the club over the past 12 months they have not responded so consequently have been shown the exit door. All registered players will remain suspended from the Sunday league until debts are cleared. Players are warned that DCFA could suspend them from ALL football sine die.
A second TSFL side has withdrawn fom the league. Newly Promoted Roger's Casuals are apparently unable to register enough players.
Its not all bad news, as TSFL welcome Plymouth United into the league. The Plymouth side will be accepted on the proviso that their dedicated home ground is within easy reach of the Torbay area

TORBAY SUNDAY LEAGUE LOOKING AT THEIR OPTIONS

The Torbay Sunday League could follow Scotland's lead with teams playing against each other three times in the league next season to make up for the shortage of numbers in the two divisions. It's far from being a done deal, with clubs agreeing at the recent annual general meeting to come together again in August when they'll have a clearer picture as to how many sides will be taking part.

As it stands, they've lost three from last season - the Plough Inn, who withdrew midway through, Denbury Athletic and Remedies - with only one definite replacement up to now in Babbacombe-based The George.

That gives them 16 overall, with the possibility of two others teams, including one from Brixham.

"We're in talks with both at the moment, but hopefully they'll come in before it's time to draw up a constitution for next season," said league secretary Tony Gardner.

The suggestion to fill out the season with teams playing each other more than twice in the league such as they do in Scotland, is not new to the Torbay Sunday League.

"It's been raised in the past, but a final decision is entirely up to the clubs. All the league does is try to give them what they want," said Gardner.

The teams entered up to now are A.C. Molloys, Applebys, Artful Dodger, Half Moon, Half Moon Reserves, Kingsteignton Athletic 3rds, Newton Orient, Nova, Plymouth United, The Old Manor, The George, The Rose Spartans, Royal Standard, Torbay Wanderers, Torquay United Supporters' Club and Victoria Inn (Ashburton).

There has been one change in the list of officers next season with Jason Haywood stepping down as fixtures and results secretary to be replaced by Steve Powley.

DYNAMO Barton AFC, one of the two new clubs talking to Torbay Sunday League officials ahead of next season, say they are in need of a kit sponsor.

"Some of us have played Sunday League football before, but most are coming up through youth football and keen to play," said club spokesman Dejan Maric.

"Our home pitch will be at Barton Downs, and we're hoping to start off in Division Two, but we still have to have talks with the league to get accepted. We'll still go ahead if we don't attract a sponsor, but one would help considerably to meet costs. "

Dejan can be contacted on 01803 313118.

THERE was no winner of this week's Brixham Villa FC Weekly Lottery, with the result next Monday's draw at The Golden Lion, Brixham, will see the jackpot raised a further £50 to £1700. This week's winnings numbers were 17, 19, 28 and 30, with the following Lucky Dip winners: £50 - Frank Breslan (Newton Abbot); £20 - G.P. Bullock (Brixham); £10 - Ralph Bowles (Brixham), Carol Austin (Brixham) and Pearl Channing (Brixham).

Re: NEWS

The constitution of the Torbay Sunday Football League for season 2008/9 was decided at an EGM held on Tuesday evening Aug 5th. Clubs voted one more new team in (Crown & Anchor FC based in Brixham) bringing the total for the new season up to 18 teams. The George FC and Dynamo Barton FC having already been accepted at the earlier AGM.
The two Divisions will be as follows:
Division One
 AC Molloys
Artful Dodger
Applebys
Half Moon
Jackz FC (formerly Old Manor)
Newton Orient
Royal Standard (promoted)
Victoria Inn (promoted)
Division Two
 Barton Dynamos (new team)
Crown & Anchor ( new team)
 The George (new team)
Half Moon Res
 Kingsteignton Ath 3rds
 Nova
 Plymouth Utd
 Spartans
 Torbay Wanderers
 TQ Galaxy (formerly TUSC)

Furthermore, it was agreed that Division One clubs will meet THREE times in the League Competition, realising a 21 game campaign. Division Two sides however will continue to meet TWICE, realising an 18 game League campaign plus the Supplementary Cup (for Div 2 sides only)
The Bill Matthews Memorial Cup Competition for all TSFL clubs will revert to a single game per tie (ending the two legged system of the last two seasons)
