SEASON START & END

Now that I have been elected as fixture secretary for the forthcoming season, Please note that this season will be starting on the 15th of August 2009 & the last league game will be on the 1st May 2009. This is due to the world cup next year & the FA Cup Final being on the 15th May, I'm looking to hold the Herald Cup final on the Saturday 8th May 2010 as the last game of the season.
Divisional Cup games will start in the new year & again I'll be hoping to hold finals once a week on a friday night( no more mondays)
I'm also hoping to do something different for the Charity Shield this year & will be contacting the clubs involved 1st to run by my idea before announcing it on here.
I apologise to those that have already arranged friendlies for the 15th & 22nd August but the fixture forms that was sent out did stipulate that the season would be starting on the 15th August.

Nice 1 Ant, i think there are some cracking ideas, like the 1 about Herald last game of season as should attract alot more support, Also good news about all finals on a Friday, again that should up the crowds.
Roll on August 15th even if i will have to emoticon a couple friendlies. emoticon

Great suggestion to start the season on 15th Aug. Don't know about anyone else but I'm bored of football free Saturdays already. lol.

I agree Having Herald Cup final as last game of season should attract a bigger crowd.

Ending the season 1st May would surely also help with affiliating with Devon FA as currently you have until 30th April to affiliate but how do you know which league/ cup to affiliate with if you are 3 or 4 weeks from knowing whether you are promoted or relegated.

I think there are some really good ideas there, I especially like the idea of starting early as it means a couple more weeks of playing in the sun (hopefully) and a bit more time to allow for the dodgy weather we all love in England!

Unless of course it throws it down from the 13th to the 22nd of August. emoticon

Every country has a rainy season where it can rain heavily non-stop...

Its just that ours is 12 months long emoticon

Re: SEASON START & END

good stuff ant. esp cups and herald. it should be the finale
do clubs have the option of starting on the 1st sept as before though. we have cricket players in our team and their season finishes at the end of august. we have our own pitch so we can normally catch up (unless we have a cup run , but im planning to preventthat this year haha).

Ant , do we have to enter the senior cup? after last year we have our doubts. as its a DCFA cup i heard its compulsary?
