Re: Results 09/05
two or three are good enough now but enjoy playing in the same team as their mates.one or two others lack motivation
and a couple are not strong enough and a couple of us have left it a bit late

Re: Results 09/05
Ye i remember the bishop game, last year it was our first year up in mens but i was sidelined due to breaking my leg! Motorbikes This year is really my first season of mens football, and have enjoyed it although im not quite big enough yet! Ye one of our lads got sent off by pete foxen i believe for swearing in frustration lol! Ye there still are mouthy lads in our team, but they have no desire to make it into the top leagues, they are more than capable, just dont want it, rather get off their faces on a friday night which is a great shame! Think im just going to play with my dad (red tissue) till he hangs is boots up again! lol
Ive heard about the points deducted and i think it could be stoke gabriel! Wouldnt mark my words tho!
Stavvy dj i understand what your saying about the peninsula, but i know a couple of lads my age who play in that league on 30 odd quid a game and they are no where near good enough or strong enough to be there! I guess its who you know not what you know!
All the best!

Re: Results 09/05
certainly you lads have got potential, some of your players have good technique, but i just feel you wont improve your game to the full extent in div 4 tho experience in adult football will bode well. to a degree its who you know and you will get players that are not good enough for the standard in these cases sometimes, tho if your around the reps teams then normally u simply filter into the peninsula from these contacts, if people dont have the contacts but think there good enough for peninsula or the likes of dawlish, willand or even tiverton, then they shud be making the contacts, banging on doors and car windows until a team gives them a shot, a chance to train at least and prove themselves in the res leagues, if the player has the confidence in there ability, able to make sacrifices and desire to play at high level then anything is possible. unfortunately in this area we are not blessed with a great deal of semi professional leagues or clubs, the closest you could argue is dawlish tho whether they fit into semi professional category is a debate, Tiverton and taunton meanwhile do but look how far away those sides are, whereas if you go to bristol, cardiff, bournemouth you will find hordes of semi professional sides all with excellent youth setups in, that being said since the re structuring of the leagues in this area the standard is most defiantly improving and clubs are also improving their youth systems / coaching in order for emerging talent to reach the standard of senior level of the club when they reach 16 / 18. In div 4 this season personally i have played against players whom would not look out of place in the peninsula league, at the end of the day as long as you enjoy your football it dosnt matter who and what level you play for as this is the game we love.

Re: Results 09/05
good post stavydj youve hit the nail on the head.
DESIRE to many distractions away from football.
To play at a good standard you have to travel and be commited, like training twice a week, upto 2hrs traveling to away games (some times midweek) and to breakaway from your mates. personally i enjoyed playing western league it was the highest standard my ability allowed me to play and its great to play against top sides with great pitches and facilities to match.the money was secondary as i was never a top earner. most young lads like to play in there comfort zone and wont test themselves

mostly it was the combination res league i played which was made up of midland alliance, combination and dr martens res sides.
I had a brief spell at solihull borough in 2001 when dave buust ( ex coventry ) was 1st team manager and guy russell ( ex birmingham ) was the reserve boss, before that i played for kings norton in the birmingham afa league, returned bk south to play for plymouth civil service in the p&d prem and my sunday pub side the old smithy where i then ****ed my knee at end of this season needing operation, have hardly played any football since apart from about 10 games for south brent in 2003, this season is my first season back playing since xmas 2003 which i have enjoyed, just to play the game again is ideal, tho my fitness levels are not so ideal :-) one more game to go, roll on next season

Re: Results 09/05
Stavvy dj i couldnt agree more with you! such a shame we only have torquay and exeter aswell becuase torquays youth set up is shocking and not very often the exeter scouts are out, although john james from plymouth likes to have a look at the young potential around! Im hopefully going to work my way through the teams at kerswell next season then maybe in a couple years time when im big enough to play in goal in the pensinula ill find somewhere that will give me a chance! fingers crossed! Hopefully a few of my team mates will do the same!
All the best next season, hope it goes as well as this one!
