Newton Abbot '66 2 Paignton Saints 1
ps The Ilsington v Newton Abbot '66 Reserves game last night was obviously a complete non-event that nobody from either side could get anything positive from. It was an odd game to arrange, surely a game against the '66 first team would have been more beneficial for all concerned.

Pete,
was a case of a confidence boost for the for the season, i thought you'd of stuck some first teamers in, but as they had a game the following night you didnt.
i agree is was a non starter. and i felt a little embarresed at the 10 nil point. so i made 7 changes. even had 30 mins myself!

Not a dig at you Steve and in hind sight prob not a good game for the reserves but as the reserves hadn't sorted anything out I needed to get a couple of games sorted.
Even if we didn't have a game prob wouldn't have played any 1st team players as that wouldn't help the reserves - they need to gel as a team as they need to play as much as possible together. Will take a bit of time as it's practically a whole new squad and the 1st have probably got 18-20 players at the moment so that will need to be trimmed.

But there is only 1 division between these 2 teams! Villa in div 4 and 6's in 5? So actually a bigger gap between Villa and 6's 1st team...

But unfortunately the divisions arent always representative of ability and with players moving from club to club each season, different teams being strong or week each season and with teams making their way up the leagues this isn't going to happen. Think the reserves are just going to have to learn the hard way this season.
