Re: Results 24th October
Yeah tough game, 5-0 !!
Last week was a bad weekend, must have been the amount of internationals players had to play the week before! Villa didnt have that problem!
And you forgot to mention the wig in your write up mate! Wonder who will get it next week?

Re: Results 24th October
Who was present at the Staverton pitch inspection?
The forecast for the weekend was rain friday night and into the morning. The rain would spread eastwards leaving a dry, blustery afternoon and evening. Dry on sunday with sunny spells.
I was in the area at 9am and 1pm.
At 9am the pitch was wet but the forecast was for good drying weather. At 1pm the pitch was certainly playable....in my opinion.

Re: Results 24th October
Brixham Utd 6 Teignmouth Res 0
Teigns took 11 players to Wall Park after the first team had taken players to fill their squad and others were at a christening or injured ;(. Teigns matched Brixham for long periods in the first half and both teams played good looking football on the deck. Brixham scored a couple in the first half whilst their keeper played well by making some good saves. Early in the second half Alan Stuckey went off (he had started the game with a slight hamstring strain AND had flu!!) and Teigns lost their shape somewhat. Brixham dominated from this point and although Teigns had a number of other chances were happy when the 90 minutes were up due to other players picking up knocks. Well done to Brixham for their warm welcome and we hope they go far in a competition they can win.

Re: Results 24th October
Bishopsteignton Utd 3 v 1 Paignton Saints AET
Well contested game played in good spirit, hard but fair. First 30 minutes Bishop on top but couldnt finish, Saints came more into the half and created some good chances hitting the bar with one effort. On the stroke of half time Dave Scott converted a Matt Back corner with a neat shot at the near post.
Second half saw Saints apply more pressure and Bishop conceded in the 70th minute after failing to clear from a corner. The game went from end to end with neither side able to kill the game off.
Extra time saw Bishop create more chances and Dave Chadwick broke the deadlock with a well struck shot that was deflected away from the Saints keeper and into the far corner. Fresh legs with Bevis , Welsh and Murphy saw Utd through the final 15 minutes and Murphys chasing down was rewarded when a poor clearance went astray and his half volley found the back of an empty net for 3-1.
A good solid team performance from a side that is gelling well and improving week by week.

Re: Results 24th October
just thought id come on here to clear up a few things regarding stavegate!
after getting to the ground at 10 am the pitch certainly looked playable from the pavillion- as it did a number of times last season. after close inspection i had my serious doubts. i then tried forking the pitch but to no avail. the bottom corner of the the pitch was waterlogged and every time i walked on the pitch my feet sunk. by the time i left at 11.30 the rain had just about stopped. i had to make a decision - which i did.
we had no hidden agenda in wanting to postpone the game as we had a full squad to choose from and it also meant i had to go shopping with the misses and mother - in -law!
hope this clears a few things up!
i will again be there at 10 am this coming saturday if anyone wants to join me (lol)
ps _ our game wasnt the only one postponed!

Re: Results 24th October
Singe, only the match referee or a qualified referee not connected to any of the 2 clubs involved should be calling a game off. This is done to protect you & the club from being accused of falsely calling a game off! For the record a qualified referee did visit your pitch later in the day & confirmed that he to would have called the game off.
