About Space Mutiny and Space Mutiny: The Runboard Forum
Space Mutiny: The Runboard Forum
This discussion board, hosted by Runboard, is intended for fans of "Space Mutiny" and other bad sci-fi "B" movies to come and talk about them.
"Space Mutiny"
"Space Mutiny" is widely regarded by critics and fans alike as the worst science fiction movie set in space that has ever been made. One movie critic even commented that Ed Wood's alien/vampire cult classic "Plan 9 From Outer Space" was a better movie than "Space Mutiny".
The Southern Sun, a large spaceship that bears an uncanny resemblance to the original Battlestar Galactica, is searching the stars for a new home for some of the people of Earth, in order to curb the overpopulation of our planet. But Elijah Kalgan (John Phillip Law, "Barbarella"), the Chief Enforcer, has other ideas involving space pirates and lots and lots of bwah-ha-ha-ha-ing. He and his lackeys attempt to take over the Southern Sun, in a plot that involves conspiracy and murder. However, the conspiracy is discovered when a space shuttle pilot (Reb Brown, "Yor: The Hunter From The Future", "The Deli") with combat experience, and the feisty, forty-something daughter (Cisse Cameron, "The Deli") of the Southern Sun's commander, accidently come across a murder in progress, and become fugitives on their own ship. In the end, they and the crew launch a counterattack against Kalgan and his Enforcers.
With everything from special effects footage borrowed from the original "Battlestar Galactica" to overused stunt doubles, abused safety railings, and what has been widely regarded as the biggest continuity error in the history of science fiction movies, "Space Mutiny" has it all. If you love to laugh at bad sci-fi "B" movies, then "Space Mutiny" will have you in stitches.
