IMO the web site form is OK. There are some pages that apparently never get used or accessed and I think some of them could be removed.

The main thing is that the pages need to be updated with CURRENT information. Many of the pages have old and / or irrelevant info on them.

Any thing with historical significance should definitely be retained.

We need to work very hard to ensure that all TBA members know about this web site and use it. It gets very little traffic at present.

I think the best solution would be to have an integrated website and discussion forum.....rather than having two, completely seperate entities. Right now we have two place for people to go...and neither one gets a lot of traffic (or participation) If we go with more of a CMS approach, I think the end result would be better.

CMS stands for Content Management System. Basically, the CMS keeps track of and displays all of your "content"....ie. whtever you want to be on your website. Content could consist of many things...articles, FAQ's, photo/video albums, blogs, calendars, tournament schedules, past results......AND discussion forums.

A good CMS is easy to manage...the webmaster(s) simply type in an article, tell the CMS where on the webpage to display it and that's it. It doesn't require a computer jock to make changes.

There are a few CMS options....some free, some not. Joomla is probably the most popular CMS option that is free. (http://www.joomla.org/about-joomla.html)

vBulletin is the forum software used by most of the larger discussion forums like BowFishingCountry and 2CoolFishing. Until now, vBuletin was a discussion forum package only. They are about to release their own CMS version. Tey plan to release it before the end of the year. Until Oct 31, they are selling it at a "pre-release" price of $235...$50 off the regular $285. You can go to www.vbulletin.com and check it out. Make sure you click on the "screenshot" tab and then look at the first screenshot (top left). That example shows what I am talking about....an integrated website/forum.

If you have any questions.....or better yet, if you have any SPECIFIC recommendations, let me know. Like Charlie said, it may take a little money.....but without some suggestions and guidance, it's going to take a psychic too!
