TPWD/TBA Grass Carp Tournaments
TPWD has offered to partner with TBA in order to remove excessive grass carp from 2 lakes in the eastern part of Texas. This will more than likely be in a tournament format. It is my understanding these 2 lakes have too many grass carp and have been protected. They will issue TBA a permit to help remove some of the grass carp. Any one interested in shooting some big grass carp?WB
A big THUMBS UP! to TPWD for making this offer.

Re: TPWD/TBA Grass Carp Tournaments
What a deal!! Count us in!
Sounds like you don't want to mention the name of the lake(s) and that is fine, but, do you know if these lakes have been "off limits" to bow fishing or just no grass carp?
Are they big enough for a major tournament?
What time frame are you looking at, or is it too soon to answer that?

Re: TPWD/TBA Grass Carp Tournaments
A few more details:
First lake-- Lake Jacksonville(1350 acres) stocked fall of 2006 probably has 1600 grass carp left-- 20+ lbs by now. Possibly early March or sooner depending on how fast we can get it approved by the city.
Second lake--- Purtis Creek State Park(355 acres) possibly 600 grass carp left--I don't think bowfishing has been allowed here before. WB
