posticon Mapping Problem - once again

Hi all,
in the last days I continued working on my city, but when I ran my current map, I get the following problem:
http://www.imagedump.com/index.cgi?pick=get&tp=534033

As you can see, the complete interface is missing :-(

Any ideas?

Re: Mapping Problem - once again

I have had the same problem with my, "Bank Underground" map in the S.I.X. mod. I did some work on it and eventually fixed the problem (The fix will be in the next mod update). While I am still not certain what caused the HUD and cursor to vanish (Though I have my theories), I will tell you what fixed the problem for me and maybe it will work for you. I noticed that when I entered the map everything was fine until I moved my character or looked around. Looking in certain directions created lag and eventually the HUD disappeared. Other directions had no effect on the HUD and improved the lag. I examined my map and changed several things in the areas that caused the HUD and lag problems. I noticed that there were some extremely large brushes so I chopped them up and that seemed to reduce the lag. I intensified the fog so as to reduce the distance the character could, “Look” and thereby limit how much the engine needed to render. I also changed some of the structures to make them less complicated. For example Instead of a round bar I used a square bar and textured it to appear round. Finally I altered the structure of the map and separated the area that was causing the HUD to disappear from the area in which my character was active. I did this by adding walls between where my character was and the area he looked at that was creating the disappearing HUD. This change had the greatest effect and completely eliminated the lag and the disappearing HUD so long as the Character could not, “See” the problem areas. But I wanted to be able to look across the map so I added windows into the wall. I discovered the lighter the tint of the window the more the lag increased and the disappearing HUD problem returned but with less frequency. Eventually I settled on a darkly tinted window that still allowed for a visual survey of the map. This eliminated the lag and the disappearing HUD issue. Some of the things I tried that had no effect were rearranging the sectors in various configurations, and reducing the number of templates or less complicated templates. Well….., that was lengthy, but I hope it will help. Good luck with your maps, I am interested in seeing some of your work. Do you have a location that we can see more or even download some of your work?

Re: Mapping Problem - once again

Hello Clown,
first of all, thank you for your long reply. In the meanwhile I got the answer for my problem at the E-Mods Forum: as you said, my map was too big and I used too many too large textures, so I reached the memory max. The problem disappeared, when I chose a bigger Light Resolution in the export menu ( from standart 16 to 32 ). All in all its an easier but same way you made with your map.
I hope to show everyone, who likes to see it, my work in the next months, but the chronicle I´m working on ( now for more than two years ) will be a big one. Unfortunally I´m working alone, so it´ll still take some time. In another thread I put a link in one of my replies, that leads to some screenshots of some of my maps so far. When the the hub will be finished, I´ll put new screenshots into the imagedump.
My dream is to create a persistend Vampire RP world in a big city, where everyone can play his char as he/she wants and every action the players do with their chars will cause permanent consequences to the whole city. ( hope that is understandable - sorry for my bad english emoticon ).
If anyone likes to help me, every motived Vampire RP Player is welcome emoticon
