What is Igor's Secure Messaging System?

ISMS is designed to provide an opportunity for players to add an extra element to their storylines (or simply get a mini dose of RPing via some fun lol) by way of their CHARACTERS being able to leave a message for other characters to read. Think of it as your character logging onto a pc and leaving a message in a forum themselves. A way for them to leave messages for each other the way WE do.

The messages could be storyline related (mentioning meetings, going-ons etc), or simply random fun one character thinks other characters might find amusing...whatever seems appropriate for the character that's posting really.

Users can post for as many of their characters as they like (and yes, this does mean it could potentially get rather amusing when users are effectively talking to themselves via messages from their own characters lol).

How will it work?

To make things more realistic and more logical, I thought it wise to split things into 2 sections within 2 eras:

1)An even more secure 'High rank only' style section, which would be strictly for the eyes of characters closely associated with the CK (those with sufficient security clearence)

2)A general messaging section which all of our characters could use - ie main people known to CK, but not necessarily people the CK characters would want 'in the loop' on certain CK matters... for example Angel's people, Apone, Dracula, Duck Monkerson, Ally's staff etc.

This method of using 2 sections also adds a potential extra level of deviousness to going-ons/messages as info provided could vary depending on which section in which it's posted.

What's the best way to add a post?

The easiest way to add an in-character post is simply to write it as though your character is writing it. Obviously the username of the person posting will appear for each post, regardless of the character they are posting as, but this can be got around by changing the line of text in the subject line to the relevant name. For example, on clicking the reply button, the subject box will say something like ''Re: Dark Future Era - ISMS'' (that line obviously depending on what forum you're posting in). Simply delete that line and add the name of the character you are posting as.

Rules:

(*X*) Only characters with sufficient security clearance can use the 'ISMS - High Rank Only' section. These characters include:

Demortia
Draco
Andrew
Alato
Marcia (?)
Igor

This list will be amended as and when it is required, so check back if unsure. Let me know if I have missed anyone.

(*X*)Characters known to the CK, but not closely involved in it's going-ons can ONLY use the General forum. Those able to use the High Rank Only forum can use both.

(*X*)Enemies, outsiders and new characters CANNOT use either forums. As the messaging system is supposed to be secure, access to the boards is limited to those who have presumably been provided with its details. New characters can obviously earn the right to use it should their character eventually fit into one of the above categories over time.

(*X*)The system CANNOT be 'hacked' unless doing so is previously agreed with the other Guild members and via valid reasoning that has been pre-approved BEFORE it is claimed. This means no computer-wizz types, no nossie deals, NOTHING being plausible as a way for characters that can't use the various sections of the forum to directly obtain info from the inaccessible sections. Although this rule might seem rather harsh at first glance, it is required to add some level of fairness to the situation. A regular character can of course mention something they might have read, as this can and does happen in rl - but it'd be all too easy to make a 'bad-guy' character claim that they simply 'hacked' the forum to get certain info. Unless it is pre-planned, not only would this potentially ruin the storyline the character is involved in, but also majorly impact the storylines of other guild members via other information that could now be found out by others.

(*X*)Obvously, only messages relevant to the Modern-Day and Dark Future eras are to be included, as computers/'messaging systems' etc, weren't around in the Dark Ages lol.

(*X*)Manipulative characters CANNOT get ahold of access info via characters that already have it (ie, they can't claim so-and-so logged them in, or made them an account etc). This can be covered by saying that Igor/Dem has to pre-approve who gets access, and all those that currently can access the system do so via something like retinal-scans/finger prints etc. The reasoning for this is the same as the 'no hacking' rule.

If you are unsure about anything, whether it's concerning a specific post or something about the ISMS in general, feel free to post it OOC in reply here and I'll do my best to respond as quickly as possible. Alternatively, send a pm, IM or email my way :-)
