Due to the amount of typing involved in a roleplay session, we have found that over the years we've developed certain abbreviations and slang. To help anybody new to role-playing with us, below is a list of the abbreviations, acronyms and slang we use. Should I happen to remember any more, I'll gradually add them to the list. They are listed in alphabetical order to help make looking up a word easier.

Addy = Address (usually in relation to email addresses)

AFK = Away from keyboard

AI = Artifical Intelligence - The computer control of npc characters (Enemies, guards, civillians etc), that makes them attack, fear, or run away from players. This can be turned on and off by the ST.

Alt = 'Alternative'... or the key found just to the right or left of the spacebar on the keyboard

ASAP = As soon as possible

ATM = At the moment

BBL = Be back later

BBS = Be back soon

Bg = Background

Bk = Back

BP = Blood points / Bloodpool

BRB = Be right back

BTW = By the way

BU = Back up

C+P = Copy and Paste

Cammie = Camarilla

Cappo = Cappadocian

CHQ = Corporation Headquaters (usually referring to the Corp HQ map in the Dark Future era).

Char = Character

Civ = This stands for 'civillian', and is a term used to describe anybody outside of the groups that certain characters hang with - especially used when referring to ordinary humans.

CK = Crimson Keep / Crimson Corp

Com / Comm = Communication Device (a term mostly reserved for Dark Future games)

Convo = Conversation

Cont = Continue / Continued / Continuation

Coz = Because

CTD or CTDT = Crash/Crashed to desktop

DA = Dark Age

DAICIMS = Dark Age, In-character, Instant messenger session

DFICIMS = Dark Future, In-character, Instant messenger session

DF = Dark Future

DH = Dialogue Homicide - The act of 'killing' a conversation, by saying something that makes everyone go quiet.

Diff = Different

Disc = Discipline

DL = Download

Dmg = Damage

DT = Desktop

FAI = Forget About It

Gen = Generation

Gio = Giovanni

Goo = The substance that always seems to end up covering Howlett.

GU = Grave Unit (the name of Ally's group/organisation)

H+S = 'Hack and Slash' - a term used to describe a game that involves a large amount of AI npc killing. The term can also be used for the non-roleplay section of vamp players, who play it solely to kill things or other people.

HCJ = 'Healing Cloud of Justice' (joke term)

HD = Hard-drive

IAG = In a game

IC = In-character

IDK = I don't know

IG = In-game

IK = I know

IM = Instant messenger

Improv = Improvise/Improvised (the term 'improv'd' also refers to this)

Inst = Install

Jump = Teleport (usually in reference to the ST moving players to a different location on the map)

Inc = Include / Including

Inv = Involved / Involvement

JGS = Jupiter Guild of Science (See Dark Future background material for more information)

Kb = Keyboard

LOL = Laugh out loud

LMAO = Laughing my arse off

Lvl = Level

Maj = Majority

Malk = Malkavian

Max = Maximum

MC = Main Character

MD = Modern Day

MDICIMS = Modern Day, In-character, Instant messenger session

Mem = Memory

Min = Minute (ie. Time)/ Minimum (ie. Least)

Msg = Message

Nec = Necessarily

Nossie = Nosferatu

NP = No problem

NPC = Non-player Character

OOC = Out of character

Opp = Opportunity

Pic = Picture

PMSL / PML = P*ssing myself laughing

Port = Teleport (usually in reference to the ST moving players to a different section of the map)

POV = Point of view

Ppl = People

Pref = Preference

Prob = Probably/problem

Reg / RE: = Regarding

Rep = Representative / Reputation

RHE = Rolls her eyes/Roll his eyes

RL = Real Life

ROFLMAO = Rolling on floor, laughing my arse off

RP = Role-play

RPG = Role-play game

Sec = Second

SID = Sighs in dismay

Situ = Situation

SL = Storyline

ST = Storyteller - The person hosting the game.

STFU = Rarely used..but still might need a translation. The letters for this stand for a less than polite way of saying 'be quiet'.

TC = Take Care

Techie = Technician

Temp = Temporary

TG = Thompson-Garret (see Dark Future background material for more information).

Tho = Though

Torrie = Toreador

TR = Transfer rate

Tranq = Tranquiliser / Tranquilised

Trem = Tremere

Tx / Ty / Thnx / Tz = Thanks / Thankyou

Tzim = Tzimisce

Uni = University

V = Very

Vamp = Vampire (ie, the creature), or the game Vampire: The Masquerade - Redemption

Vid = Video

VTM / VTMR = An abbreviated name for the game.

WB = Welcome back

WBA = Welcome back again

WOD = World of darkness

Woot = yay/yey ! - A way to show you're pleased about something, but a step up from a simple 'Woo!'

WTD = Within the darkness

WTH/WTF = What the Hell? / What the ****? (the latter rarely used)

WW = Werewolf (Also 'White Wolf' when referring to the makers of V:TM)

XP = Experience Points

Yr = Your / You're

YW / YVW = You're welcome / You're Very Welcome
