PS plug-ins
Does anyone use a PS plug in for conversion? I've been experimenting with Lightroom B&W conversion then export as tiff for PS work and I've notice lightroom gives you lots of noise to deal with. Usually it the first thing I have to do in PS. I was looking at the plug in from the plugin B&W styler from "The Plugin Site."

Re: PS plug-ins
I have:
BW workflow Pro from Fred Miranda
BW Styler from Photo Wiz
Alienskin Exposure
All have strengths and weaknesses and some may scoff at them but I did learn a lot from using them in terms of both what is right, what is just plain wrong and what a huge variation in starting points the users of B&W film had with respect to the different emulsions, contrasts and grains they had.
I would trade them all in for the new B&W capabilities in PS CS3 though. It a very, very capable and powerful B&W conversion tool and the new ACR4.1 is just superb.
Hope this helps

Re: PS plug-ins
I virtually always use Convert to B&W pro
It is based around Ilford Multigrade and as an old wet darkroom worker me brain just about understands it

Re: PS plug-ins
I'm with Chris on this one. convert to BW pro, if used in conjunction with PS on separate layers ready for masking , it cant be beaton IMHO, it does cost but well worth it in the long run, the multigrade setting is a great tool, once you get used to the settings, using the multi slider and paper exp together is a great contrast increasing tool

Re: PS plug-ins
I've pretty much binned my plugins in favour of manipulation in RAW using ACR 4.2 and the B&W filter in CS3.
