Chanel Mixer settings for foliage and grass

Hi,

One of difficult steps for me is using proper chanel mixer settings, especially for foliage and grass.
Can you give me a few pointers on the subject?

Well I have gone lazy at the moment...using an FP4 mix of 28, 41, 31.

One trick to consider is to look at the channels before conversion. See which one gives the best and worst interpretation of foliage for what you want. Then use CM to favour the better channel.
as you will see in Martins tutorials it may be that you have one conversion for the foliage and another for the rest of the image.

Thanks for the info Chris,

I tried most of the "Channel Mixer settings to imitate film reproduction" found on Martin's tutorial section and must say some give pleasent results right one. But I find that for some difficult conversions the method of using different chanel settings (ref. to the one you mentioned) is better but far from automatic.

What I'm Looking for is a simple recipe for the greens just as a starting point (besides 100% green). The sky part I find much easier to do.

Probably are as many chanel settings that there are different shades of green found in nature.

another trick to try ...
convert to LAB
curves lightness channel...take adjacent similar greens and control-click to lay down points on the curve.
Push one of th points darker and the other lighter
This may seperate the greens a bit to allow easier CM settings

The problem AV is this, grass will give a 18% mid grey tone under normal exp and it can tend to look a bit drab, whAT you need to do is experiment with diff channels settings but what is importasnt is to add texture to it in the form of USM sharpening at the high levels suggeted in my tutorilas, that will give the extra bite to these drab areas your experiancing, do the USM on a copied layer, add a layer mask and selectivly paint the USM back, try to lower the brush opacity here and there to give a variation in texture
