hello

Hi
My name is steve, i live in crewe cheshire.
I have a canon D400 camera plus a canon film camera also have my own darkroom which I love being in. At the moment my 7 year girl likes printing in the darkroom, I hope she keeps it going because by the time she is 16 B/W printing will be few and far.

Hi Steve and welcome, the wet darkroom will I guess slowly die a natural death, unless people like you keep buying the paper and chemicals, if there's a market it will survive for now, I still have my darkroom equipment but it gathers dust now, digital monochrome be it from film or pure digital is a great medium once mastered, and the results can be stunning when you get the knack of it, post some pics up and we will give you honest feedback and a learning curve will start

Hi Steve,
Welcome to the forum! Do Crewe Alexandra still exist?

I still have my LPL enlarger and all the other darkroom equipment up in the loft, but since deciding to go fully digital in 2006, it has not seen the light of day. In the main, a digital file plus appropriate software gives a much better/easier/convenient solution to achieving the aim you visualised when pressing the shutter button than the traditional film/wet process/darkroom sequence and I, for one, cannot see myself going back to the analogue process.

Hi

Loooooooong while since I did any wet work. I was never much good at it either emoticon But it can still produce the results in the right hands and a good silver print is a thing of beauty.

Do you still user dryers and glazers or has technology moved on?

Re: hello

Hi Steve, welcome.

I have had my first taste of a darkroom this week and have to say that i loved it and cant wait to have another go. One thing that i took away from it was actually a better understanding of cs3 and some plugins that use darkroom names for the digi technique (if you get what i mean emoticon ) anyway i can see why you love it so much.
