Mono's an area I've long had an interest in but never developed. Now use my Sigma SD10 exclusively for IR and visible+IR images, so feel I should explore full mono further
Sadly, now use Canon 350/20/30/40D (OK as a business tool but not great as an artistic one ) - am considering getting SD14 for the arty side of things!
But I am going to ask you to do something ... tell us what is so good about the SD cameras (dont worry we are not all CANikon users...)
Ironically, just been explaining to someone as to what makes the Sigmas "better". Obviously it's the Foveon sensor but I think it imparts a much richer colour and warmer light to shots (not as simple as a different colour/light - better than that). I'm sure that just one aspect is that none of the colours needs to be artificially created.
I've taken shots side by side, Canon and Sigma, and without question the Sigma looks better. The Canon's are great technically - and definitely more consistent and reliable (hence me using them commission-wise) but the Sigma's triumph with the wow factor!
Re: Greets from the Peaks Welcome to the forum. Thanks for the info on the sigma camera. They make some great lenses, its a shame they didn't take the kodak route and use nikon and canon mounts. I'd love a camera like that but would find myself sleeping in the garden if I try and buy yet another camera system.
Am I right in thinking the IR filter on the sd14 was housed forward of the sensor and used to keep dust from the sensor? meaning it is very easy to convert?
