Howdy from San Francisco Bay Area

Hi, I've shot B&W long time ago, 120 film, Twin Lens Reflex. Loved it. Since then I've been snapping color mostly. Fairly recently, 5-6 years ago, I started dabbling with B&W again and discovered that this is where my heart truly is. So far I've never printed B&W, hope to start some day.

I saw Martin's photographs on the web, admired how beautiful they were, so I figured what better place to join and learn. emoticon

I will likely stay quiet for while, trying to read and absorb the information here.

BTW, what is a "global user"?

Hi Tony, welcome...
there is lots to learn but then if you have worked in mono in the wet darkroom there is just lots to re-learn for the dry darkroom...
so dont just read, do post up ... the group does have a strong UK bias so it is great to see images from other places as those that live there see them... and remember do ask questions

Hi Tony and welcome

I really recommend getting Martin's Contrast grading DVD, that has taught me more than several years of being on the forum, reading and watching - and it's really cheap!

Having said that what else I have learned has been mostly from actually posting and getting feedback

Just encouraging you to jump in with both feet , that's all - we don't bite! emoticon emoticon

As we say in Yorkshire "Ayup TONY", great to have another forum member from outside the UK. don't hang about and get posting questions and pics, the goal of this forum is not to have thousands of images showcased, its to help on another learn the wonders of Mono

Also I have launched a Online e-magazine,
 http://martinimages.photium.com/page7223.html
I want forum members to contribute to keep it running with fresh ideas and pictures, so take a peek.

Next months issue has a very helpful article on Contrast Grading that will, hopefully further clarify the process.

Martin

Welcome to the forum! I was in SF a couple of years ago with the family on a road trip from CA (I live int he UK but have rellies over in the states who we visit a lot). Was an amazing city, so full of life and vibrancy even in winter.
This is the first time I have used runboard in years but I think global user is where somebody uses many forums or at least has the ability as opposed to someone who simply uses the one forum.
Love the magazine!

Hi Tony and welcome. It was Martins images that drew me here in the first instance as well, best thing to happen to my photograhy yet.

Hello Tony and welcome, there's no doubt if you want to learn here's the place to do it.

All you need to do is get your head 'round Martins CG workflow, once you've cracked that the rest is easy emoticon
