Hi....new film and digital member
I've just joined up, it's really great to find a B/W forum. Although I'm predominantly a film shooter I am learning to use digital too. My portraits are natural light so the high ISO capability comes in very handy at times.
I have a darkroom at home and I'm very at ease making a B/W print but I do find processing digital files a whole lot trickier! Probably because I want them to look like film and don't know how!
Looking forward to getting to know people.

Re: Hi....new film and digital member
Hello and welcome. I'm sure you will love it in here. I do. I'm still mainly into film and if I hadn't won a digital camera last year I would still be scanning like mad. Digital can be difficult (as I've learned very quickly), but it's flexible and great for experimenting. There were times when I only shot a couple of rolls a year, but I've already taken over 300 on the new camera. (Yes I know... still not very prolific!)
I envy you working in the darkroom, but I know it's too late for me now. Enjoy the best of both worlds

Hi Little Zooey......hey, we're both Little something
Thanks for the welcome. Why is it too late for you to use a darkroom? I do agree though that using both definately gives you the best of both worlds.
Hi Martin....thanks for the welcome too. Can I post film shots on here too or must they be only digital?

Re: Hi....new film and digital member
I post a lot of scanned film in here, so feel free! The main reason it's too late for me is the number of animals we keep and the amount of time (and money) it takes to look after them all. We both work and it takes at least another 5 hours a day on top of that, I can barely find the time to take photographs

Great, I scan a lot of my film too
What animals do you have? Wouldn't it be great to have a few more hours in the day! I have a small child and a hairy lurcher and that keeps me busy enough.
I'll try and post a pic later

Re: Hi....new film and digital member
We're going through a very bad time at the moment and there have been several losses this month. At the moment we have 14 cats, 12 ferrets, 2 llamas, 2 goats, 1 pig, 8 rescued chickens and a fully grown green iguana in the attic (I hasten to add she has a window, a pond and a waterfall)
I'm working on becoming an insomniac...

Re: Hi....new film and digital member
Wow LZ, no wonder you have your hands full. I'm sorry for your losses, it's a tough thing to go through.
Crimbo ~ I like your festive name. Thanks for the welcome, I'm sure it'll be a while before my digital prints look anything like film, if ever!
