Legacy lenses...
If you have a 4/3rd camera the world of legacy lenses is wide open...do users of other marques consider legacy lenses, especially those not manufactured by the body manufacturer?

Re: Legacy lenses...
Maybe certain functions like Af manual focus override, IS etc are not on some of the older lens, but it only matters if it affects what your doing, I have found no problem using my TS lens for landscape and that has no AF, if they deliver what you want then some bargains are to be had I guess, in some ways they could make you a better photog as you have to THINK lol

Re: Legacy lenses...
It's always been my understanding that the design and coatings of film lenses gave inferior results on digital bodies, not sure why / how (C/M Fringing?). I have no personal experience of this.

Re: Legacy lenses...
Well I can say that the recent images of mine which have seen some favour have all been on old glass - Super Takumar, OM Zuiko 50+100mm, Nikkor f1.8s mk III and Konica Hexanon 40mm f1.8...
So i think the quality issue is out of the window...
A search on ebay will show many adapters to allow OM on to Canon...
Why not give it a try...as Martin intimates it is old fashioned photography, focus, meter stop down oh and compose!

Re: Legacy lenses...
Hi Chris,
Interesting thread. I have some old Minolta lenses knocking about somewhere which I may dig out and have a go.
The only issue I can see (for me) would be that lack of a focusing screen in my 400D though.
Regards
Hugh

Re: Legacy lenses...
You just look through the viewfinder and bring them into focus while wide open then stop down before pressing the shutter
If you dont want 'em you could just put 'em in a box and send them to me!!!

Re: Legacy lenses...
I guess I am a user of legacy lenses. I use a canon body, but the only canon lens that I own is my long 100-400mm lens. I use a few Leica R lenses, a Zeiss ZE lens, and some old Asahi Pentax lenses. I started cause they were cheaper than the Canon counterparts, and just started getting used to using the non-af lenses. Doesn't really matter since mountains don't move to fast to worry about autofocusing hehe..

Re: Legacy lenses...
My body is said to be working very well with manual lenses, and in fact I bought it for this purpose mostly as I have some M42 lenses from my previous camera. Later I abandoned this idea when I found out about 1.6 crop and telecentricity issue with wide angle lenses. I think I'll give it a try soon though and see how 55mm and 135mm primes compare to my kit lens Thanks for the remind Chriss.

Re: Legacy lenses...
I have an old Canon 50mm f1.8 lens - it is TINY compared to AF lenses!
