One tip, don't go pixel peeping. Folks are far too keen to zoom into an image on screen just because they can. It's at that level you see the flaws. BUT If you don't see them at the size they are to be printed who cares?

But how do you check for things that need correcting? Scanning B&W film meant the dust and scratch filter didn't work and I've got used to scrolling up and down the image from left to right to remove them by hand. I just assumed people did it with digital images too. I don't do much, but I still check. Perhaps the answer is that we don't have a printer worthy of the name so the digital images are all I have emoticon

You misunderstand me, yes check for faults and correct them but my experience is people zoom into an image on the computer and view it at say 3 times life size. That will show noise etc. you would not see on a final print.

Hello,

I use a film camera but my wife has an old Minolta digital camera. When I tried to edit any of the images from this I got a lot of noise.

I experimented with the colour management settings in my editor and found that some settings helped remove noise and others made it much worse.

A Chrome 2000 setting whicgh has a very wide gamut proved best. Adobe is also a widely used gamut.

Thank you so much for replying. I'm afraid any time colour management is mentioned my inclination is to run for the hills. My husband is a scientist and even he can't get his head around it. I've been using a Huey for the past 18 months and love it to bits. I think that means I can't try your method, but I shall remember it if I have a particularly bad problem emoticon
