Competition Pictures

Hi,

I really don't know if this is the right place to post this as it isn't a problem with the board as such. I couldn't see a better place to put it though.

I have been having a look at the competition section of the forum and thinking it could be a good idea to start entering as a way of rally improving my photography.

What I can't see are any 'rules/guidelines' as to how this section of the forum works. Is there a post on the forum somewhere that sets out the rules?

Regards

Hugh

Re: Competition Pictures

Hugh, the basic rules are usually posted at the beginning of the monthly theme...

The image should fit the theme
It should not have been published on this Board before
The longest side should be 800px
The image should be monochrome or appropriately toned...spot colour is allowed but is not conventional
You do not need a narrative - the image and theme should speak for themselves - occasionally a little info is required and that will be obvious in the theme opening of the thread

and do enter as well as vote

Whether you enter or not you are allowed (and should) vote for your preferred image by contacting me usually within a week of the end of the month

Hugh
Though I have been here a while I don't take part enough, as a lot of others, but it must be the thing to do if we are to improve and reach the dizzy heights of a capable monochrome worker. Good luck, see you there.

Thanks for the info Chris, very helpful. I suppose the best way to say thank you will be to start enetering, which I do intend to do (at some point soon).

Jim, I agree with what you say which is really why I want to enter. I have no illusions that my first entry will be a winner but, as you say, it is the thing to do to improve. It is also a good way to show appreciation for the effort that goes into running the comp.

Many thanks.
