Summer shot
Sorry, didn't know the english name for it
I took this few months ago, this is my third attemt - first was a disaster, then I overcooked, and now this. I'm not fully satisfied with the composition but it was shot after the sunset and I was composing virtually in the darkness.

Re: Summer shot
Hmmm not enough separation I guess, this time some fun with newly discovered diffuse glows (probably over used)

Re: Summer shot
Nice texture Martin, I think the glow as worked and separated better than the first image,
Its is something to be remembered and often overlooked, the image is seen through the viewfinder but interpreted with the brain, so what you see is not what the camera does, the camera sensor or film perceives the view as 2 dimensional, so in editing, to compensate for that we must separate tones by other means, usually by contrast grading or selective sharpening, the use of softening the image in parts also works well and your second edit shows this, Its possible to do this in a way that images can appear to pop out of the frame and have a 3d look to them by carefully selecting parts of the image to sharpen at differing strengths to give a none 2 dimensional look and I have prints to prove this.

Re: Summer shot
Depth is an aspect that I very often neglect. Thanks for your comment Martin, another valuable lesson from you. I'm sure others will benefit as well. I'll bear in mind what you have said next time I'm editing. Btw. I like the change in your galleries, especially the image sizes
