Re: ciggie break
I like this composition, perhaps. The upper right part of the pic sufferd from distorion removal and looks a bit unnatural. Architecture is terrible to shoot, especially with a wide angle.

Re: ciggie break
Thanks Martin
yes removing one distortion will add another but I am happier with this version as the original had the overpowering converging line which gave the wrong feel to the image

Re: ciggie break
Hi Chris,
Gosh you have big buildings in Shetland
Really like this one, nice bit of documentary photography. The scale of the women against the building works very well IMHO.

Re: ciggie break
thank you Dave
one mans overcooking is another mans style
but that said does it detract? would dropping in a plain black sky work better?

Agreed about style, for me it looks odd and does distract as it was the first thing I noticed, looks somehow out of scale with the rest, but what do I know

Re: ciggie break
the rhs of the pic pulls the eye too far away from the smokers - maybe try a crop with the lower part of the rh building cropped out?

Re: ciggie break
What I wanted was for the eye to go to the Mersey Tunnel building and to miss the smokers in the other corner
