Re: An interesting read

Thanks for the link. That's very helpful!

I am just getting to the stage where I want to get some of my work printed and my initial experiences of this have been confusing and annoying. I just don't know enough about this process at the moment.

My friend who works in digital print has printed some of my photographs at work for me to look at and they have come out significantly different from how they look on my monitor. When printed I want them to look exactly how they look on my monitor.

That article has pointed out a lot of things that I will now be able to take into consideration.

I think I'm going to have to get my own printer, so at least I can create a print that looks the same as the on-screen image here at home. Then I could show that to the printer, so they know exactly how it appears on my monitor! The only other way would be to take my computer and monitor with me, but my monitor weighs several tons and I would need a crane and low loader to move it.

I shall definitely be going back to that and re-reading several times.

Thanks for posting.

I like the part about soft proofing your monitor profile. It's an excellent way to demonstrate display limitations.
