Help me realise my visualisation
I hope IM posting in the right area etc?
I want to make this image the really good in B&W
What I hope to achieve is an image were the light really glows, at the time I took it, there was a real impression of light pervading and being really magical, I hoped at the time I took it to turn it into a good B+W
All advice greatly appreciated
first the unadulterated image

next an outline of the areas I expect to need to rrally work on (don't work with this image as it's very small+low quality)
- area 1: I want to really make this area shine, bright as possible without being unreal
-area2- don't want this as bright as area 1- (which I tried to make in LR)
-Area 3- I don't want this to blow out but need it bright
EXAMPLES of what I have tried already
AS you can see from the examples , (one below) the area 2 is too bright but if I lower it then area 1 has no 'luminance' also i tried to do it globally in LR when really I think it needs to be done in photoshop?
So - how can I improve on this?
I am especially interested in how to visualise/use/aply local sharpening /contrast enhancements

Alright, I'll give it a go...but first I just wanna say that I'm just getting into B/W conversions, and yours is pretty much one of the first using some of the techniques found on this board.
I used a Contrast Mask layer, Channel Mixer (which I'm not very good at), Brightness/Contrast, and USM. Oh, yeah...I also duplicated the original and used Image>Adjustments>Exposure to knock the original exposure down by approx -1.5 to -2.0 to help avoid the blown out areas. All layers were selectively applied using layer masks and paintbrushes.
I usually use 2-3 different layers just for USM depending on the picture. Generally speaking I use something like 30/20/0 to create a blocky sharpening which increases contrast, and then a 75/3/2 for fine lines. And if necessary--which I find more so in B/W pic than color--another layer for a final 20/10/0.
I would like to give a bit more detail for this pic, but to be completely honest, I just played around w/ some of those tools 'til it started to look like what you described you wanted. Unfortunately, I'm new at this conversion-thing and I'm still learning.
