Help/suggestion appreciated

Hi Everyone,

Not sure if anyone can help but I did a quick B&W conversion using the Channel Mixer in Lightroom and then the Unsharp Mask in Photoshop.

I'm not that happy with it and plan to re-do the conversion from the RAW files using Martin's suggestions on the main website. However, does anyone have any suggestion on what to do with the bottom right-hand side? As you'll see on the colour version there is not much detail due to the DOF and on my quick B&W version that area is very dark.

Links to the Colour and B&W versions.

Any help/suggestions appreciated (I can upload larger versions if necessary)

not sure if this is what you wanted but I had a go
What I did was use adjustment layers to put 2 black and white adjustment layers on then set one for a nice overall look and one with (if I remember right) the red and yellow settings right over to thr right so just the dark area on the right bottom is brighter.

Then I used a brush to paint on the mask out so the nice overall B+W effect is seen for all but the bottom right

Is that any help or not what you meant?
