thats better, I think what I needed was an understanding of how to aproach it, a strategy if you will.

This gives me an understnding of HOW to approach it.

thanks

My try.

Image

Workflow: converted to .tiff, a little capture sharpening, convert to lab and upped the sat with the A & B channels in the curves dialogue. Raised luminosity on the interior with lab curve, back to RGB for conversion with black and white (CS3) USM at around 40, 50. used mask to brush out usm on highlights and shadows, various dodge and burn (curves, levels, exposure) and then a final usm of 14, 50 again masked out on the highlights and shadows.
Thats about all I think emoticon

Regards,

Dave

Re: Just an exercise

Very difficult when it's not your own shot so a very good exersise for me !

1. Cropped down
2. Horizontal flip.
3. Cloned out trash and turned around year (1999).

4. On a layer, Levels adjustment (darker), masked this, then painted back area's I wanted lighter.
5. Silver Efex Pro conversion (structure, contrast, toning)
6. A little dodge and burn here and there (layer; mode overlay, filled 50% grey).
7. on a layer (mode soft-light) adjusted to negative to get rid of clogged dark area's.
7. Added a little TLR - diffuse glow

I like this version best so far. Why did you flip it (it works BTW)?

Re: Just an exercise

Hi Simon,

I often try this on my own images (horizontal flip), sometimes the image works out better because here in our part of the world we read from left to right. So your eyes flow a little bit more "natural"; f.i. with this image from main item (doorway) to smaller less importaint window..
